Yozuri Ultra DX Squid Jig 75 mm / 95 mm / 110 mm — A1873 / A1518 / A1519

Ultra DX is the deep-water build in the Ultra squid jig family, and the DX changes are structural rather than cosmetic. Yo-Zuri fits the body with a pressure-resistant rib structure so it does not take on water at depth — a fabric sutte that floods loses its balance, hangs nose-down and stops fishing. The wrap is a special cloth woven with aurora thread, and the head carries luminous realistic live eyes. Everything else follows the family pattern: no lead keel, and a balanced body that holds level through the pause. Of the Ultra models we stock, this is the one to reach for when the squid are deep, the tide is running, or the drift is long.

How To Fish It

• Use it when depth or current beats the other Ultras — Where the Ultra 3D Cloth and Ultra 3D Laser DX hold high and the 5 g Ultra Bait barely falls, this is the model that gets down and keeps working there. The standard Ultra Cloth and Crystal Ultra sit between the two.
• Drop, lift, hold — Take it to the bottom or to the depth marking squid, lift smoothly through three to five winds, then stop dead for a full ten count. Bites land in the pause, so make the pause the longest part of the cycle.
• Step up the size with the fish — 75 mm for small squid and pressured marks, 95 mm as the everyday size, 110 mm when the squid are big and you want the largest silhouette in a dark column.
• Charge the glow eyes and cloth — Twenty to thirty seconds under a deck light or UV torch before each drop, and again whenever the glow dulls.
• Lean, then wind — A take feels like the rig gained weight. Load the rod smoothly and wind at one constant speed all the way to the surface; do not pump and do not strike.

• Southeast Asia — Sotong torak and sotong katak on deeper candat sotong grounds off Terengganu, Pahang and the Indonesian islands, where current keeps lighter jigs from settling.
• North America — Market squid taken deep off Pacific breakwalls, moorings and party boats after dark.
• Japan & East Asia — Kensaki-ika, yariika and surume-ika on boat sutte, ikametal and omorig rigs, where holding depth on a drift is the whole game; also fished in Korea and Taiwan.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari and arrow squid from deep jetties and boats in South Australia and Tasmania; European squid and cuttlefish on deeper Mediterranean and Atlantic marks.

Recommended Pairing

• Boat: short soft-tipped sutte or ika-metal rod so a long hold can be kept without lifting the jig
• PE 0.6–1.0 braid on a 2500 spinning or small overhead reel, with a 10–14 lb fluorocarbon leader
• Run it as the lower jig above a lead sutte or a 20–30 号 sinker on a two-branch dropper
