Yozuri 3DR-X Popper 6g 65mm R1435 Floating Lure

The Yo-Zuri 3DR-X Popper is a compact 65 mm floating popper built around a cup face that throws a heavy amount of water and bubbles for its size. The body is slim enough behind the cup that it will also walk side to side, so one lure covers both a loud chugging presentation and a quieter subsurface-looking swing. A single-knock rattle carries a low, natural click rather than a constant buzz, and the 3D prism finish is applied inside the ABS body so it does not chip off after a few fish. The rear treble carries a pulsating Mylar flash tail, which keeps working during the pause. Sixteen colours are available.

How To Fish It

• Pop and pause — Rod tip down, one sharp pull to make the cup chug, then hold still for two to three seconds while the Mylar tail flares. Most eats come in the pause, not on the pop.
• Rapid spitting — Four or five short, fast pulls in a row so it spits without travelling far. Use this to call fish up over structure, docks or a shallow reef edge.
• Walk it — With slight slack in the line, tap the tip rhythmically and the body will swing left and right instead of popping. Switch to this when a loud pop gets follows but no strikes.
• Time it right — Best during active feeding periods: early morning, late evening, and any time bait is being pushed to the surface near structure or open water.

• Southeast Asia — Barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack (jenahak) along mangrove edges, queenfish (talang) and small trevally off jetties and rock walls, hampala barb (sebarau) and peacock bass in reservoirs.
• North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass around docks and grass edges, white and striped bass on surface schools, plus speckled trout and redfish inshore.
• Japan & East Asia — Black bass on reservoir topwater, seabass (suzuki) on light shore casting at river mouths, and small blue runners around breakwaters.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, bream and small barramundi in estuaries; queenfish on Gulf flats; asp, chub, perch and pike in European rivers and lakes.
