SFT Takumi 30g / 40g / 65g / 80g Sinking Hardbody Lure

The Takumi is SFT's heavy-duty sinking casting lure, built on a solid laser-cut stainless-steel skeleton rated to 300 lb break strain with power split rings and combination rings — construction SFT rates to handle fish over 80 lb. A low-gravity counterweight sits deep in the body to improve casting distance and settle the action, while the high back fin holds the lure's line at speed and makes it suitable for high-speed trolling as well as casting. Owner Cultivar trebles are fitted, across four weights on two body sizes.

Key Features

  • Solid stainless-steel laser-cut skeleton, 300 lb break strain, rated by SFT to handle fish over 80 lb
  • High back fin design enabling high-speed trolling, with a low-gravity counterweight for casting distance
  • Power split rings and combination rings, with Owner Cultivar treble hooks
  • Four weights on 95S and 125S bodies, all sinking

How To Fish It

  • Cast and fast retrieve — Let it sink to the depth you want, then wind steadily and fast. The back fin keeps it tracking true instead of spinning out when mackerel and trevally are chasing bait at speed.
  • Countdown to depth — Count down after the splash until you find the feeding band, then repeat that count. Over reef, shorten it so you are not dragging bottom.
  • Jerk and pause — Two or three sharp rod sweeps, then stop and let it sink two to three seconds. Watch the line: takes on the drop show as a tick or a line that stops early.
  • High-speed trolling — Run it behind the boat along reef edges, current lines and drop-offs; the fin and counterweight keep it down and stable rather than skipping.

Choosing the weight. Match weight to distance, wind and current before fish size. 30 g and 40 g on the 95S body are the shore and light boat options — jetties, breakwaters and rock ledges inside about 10 m; take the 40 g when punching a headwind or holding in a running tide. 65 g and 80 g on the 125S body are for offshore casting and trolling, deeper water, hard current and bigger bait, with 80 g the pick when the drift is fast.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Trevally and GT (gerepoh), queenfish (talang) and Spanish mackerel (tenggiri) on the 30 g and 40 g from rock and jetty; larger GT and grouper (kerapu) on the 65 g and 80 g offshore.
  • North America — Striped bass and bluefish from jetties, amberjack, snapper and grouper on the heavier models, plus bonito trolled along current lines.
  • Japan & East Asia — Shore casting for buri and hirame on the lighter models, the 65 g and 80 g offshore for kanpachi.
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — Kingfish, queenfish and longtail tuna off Australian ocean rocks, hamour and cobia on Gulf marks, bass and pollack on European coasts.
