Santec Tube Bom Spring 39081 Mata Bom Tube Bottom Feeder

The Santec Tube Bom Spring is a bait feeder for freshwater bottom-fishing rigs. Its spiral spring holds dough, softened pellets or ground bait firmly around a central tube. Once in the water the bait softens and releases scent and small particles beside the hook bait, building a concentrated feeding zone that draws fish in and holds them there. What separates the 39081 from a plain bom spring is that tube core: the main line runs straight through it, so the feeder slides on the line rather than being fixed to it. A fish that takes the bait and moves off pulls line through with very little resistance — which matters for shy biters in pressured pay ponds.

Key Features

  • Spiral spring grips mouldable bait during handling and casting
  • Central tube lets the main line run through for a low-resistance running rig
  • Bait disperses gradually to form a feeding zone around the hook
  • Five sizes, #2.5CM to #6.0CM, for light to heavy bait loads
  • Durable metal construction, reusable after washing
  • Takes pellet mixtures, dough, bread paste and ground bait

How To Fish It

  • Mix and pack the bait — Add water slowly until the mix holds when squeezed but still crumbles between the fingers. Too wet and it slides off in the air; too dry and it never breaks down. Press it hard into the coils and mould it smooth.
  • Running rig — Thread the main line through the tube, add a bead, tie to a swivel and run a leader to the hooks. Cast with a smooth loaded stroke, not a hard snap — that is what throws the bait ball off.
  • Short droppers — Two or three droppers of roughly 3–6 cm keep the hooks inside the feeding zone. Bury them in the bait ball or let them hang against it.
  • Pre-bait, then fish — Cast three or four loaded feeders to the same spot first, so the swim is already working when the hooks go in.
  • Refresh regularly — Reload every 10–20 minutes at first, then stretch the interval once fish settle. A feeder that comes back still loaded was packed too dry.

Target Species By Region

  • Southeast Asia — Core mata bom tackle for kolam pancing in Malaysia and Indonesia: catfish (keli), carp (ikan kap), tilapia (talapia) and patin, plus river-mouth sessions for threadfin (senangin) and bream.
  • North America — The coil-spring approach for channel, blue and flathead catfish on punch and dough bait, plus carp in rivers and reservoirs.
  • Japan & East Asia — Related to dango-zuri and Kishu-style bait-ball fishing for carp (koi), crucian carp (herabuna) and black seabream (chinu).
  • Australia, Middle East & Europe — A close relative of the European method feeder for carp and bream; also catfish and tilapia in Gulf ponds and canals.
