Santec Sabiki Fight War 4429 UV Effect Glow Luminous Fishskin Apollo SW (6 Hooks Per Set)
The Sabiki Apollo lure set is crafted with a combination of luminous thread and fish skin, making it attractive to a wide range of fish species, and comes with a UV effect and a glow-in-the-dark oval luminous bead that increase visibility in low light and night fishing. A sabiki (サビキ) is a Japanese bait rig: one trace, a row of short droppers with a dressed hook on each, and a bait cage or sinker below.
The Fight War is the heavy end of the Apollo range, with three materials doing three jobs. Luminous thread flutters and softens the hook outline. Fish skin mimics a baitfish flank — translucent, holding a wet sheen and flexing as a scaled body does, which matters when the school is feeding on small fish rather than plankton. The oval bead adds a hard point of stored light. Six hooks per set and sizes starting at #8 make this the string for bigger bait, stained water or no light.
Key Features
- Luminous thread combined with fish skin on every hook
- UV effect plus glow-in-the-dark for low light and night fishing
- Oval luminous bead above each hook
- Six dressed hooks per set; seven sizes, #8 to #18, the largest in the Apollo range
- Sharpened hook points for soft-mouthed baitfish
How To Fish It
- Match the string to the bait size — #8 to #11 for full-size kembung and larger scad; #12 to #18 when the school drops to selar and tamban. Too small a hook will not hold a heavy bait.
- Charge, then chum — Torch the skins and beads for 20–30 seconds; the UV element needs no charge, the glow does. Clip on the top swivel, hang a bait cage below, lower to the school and shake the rod to spread krill.
- Longer, slower lifts — Fish skin has more surface area than bare thread, so lift longer, roughly 40–60 cm, then drop on a controlled line so the skins flutter rather than fold.
- Stained and deep water — The combination of skin flash, glow and bead stays visible in turbid harbour water and past the depth where a plain thread rig stops registering.
- Read the taps, never strike — Bites are light continuous tremors, not one knock. Wind steadily, swing a loaded string in rather than lifting it clear, and unhook from the bottom dropper up.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Indian mackerel (kembung), yellowstripe scad (selar) and sardine (tamban) off jetties and kelong, kept alive for grouper, siakap and trevally.
- North America — Pacific mackerel, sardine and jacksmelt off West Coast piers; Atlantic mackerel and herring in the east for striper bait.
- Japan & East Asia — Sabiki-zuri from breakwaters for aji, saba and iwashi; fish-skin strings are the standard pick once the water colours up.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Slimy mackerel and yellowtail scad off Australian wharves; small scad on Gulf harbour walls; sardine in European ports.
