Santec Rolling T-Type Swivel Black Nickel 7916

The 7916 is a three-way swivel built on a T. A bar holds two eyes in line with each other, and the rolling swivel leg comes off the middle of that bar at a right angle — so the running line stays dead straight through the top of the T while the third leg stands out to the side. That geometry is the point: the dropper cannot slide or crowd the main line, and the branch is the leg that rotates, so a bait spinning on the trace unwinds itself instead of twisting the rig. Black nickel, five sizes from #2 to #3/0.

How To Rig It

• Standard dropper — Main line to one bar eye, the sinker link from the other, and the baited trace off the rotating leg. The bait then works out to the side, clear of the rig body.
• Paternoster body — Space two T-types up the rig, each carrying one trace. Keep every trace shorter than the gap to the next swivel or they tangle on the cast.
• Sacrificial sinker link — Tie the lead on line lighter than the rest of the rig. Snagged in rock or coral, you lose the lead and get the rig back.
• Which three-way to use — All four Santec three-ways do the same job with different geometry. The 7916 T-type holds the main line straight and puts the swivel on the branch. The 7914 cross line carries the branch off a rolling body and is the general-purpose choice, with more pieces per pack. The 7913 treble is the NSB three-way for bait and trolling droppers. The 7924 oyako pairs a large parent eye with a small child eye and is sold in size pairs.
• Sizing — #2 and #1 for estuary, jetty and pond droppers; #1/0 to #3/0 for surf, reef and boat rigs. Load can arrive at all three legs at once, so do not go light.
