The Santec 7915 pairs a rolling swivel with a "B" type snap, supplied in five sizes from #4 through to #2/0 under the NSB designation. The B snap is the simple bent-wire clip: press the arm out of its bend, drop the lure eye on, let the wire spring back. It is quick to work one-handed and easy to open with cold or gloved hands, because there is no second latch to find. That speed is bought with a lower ceiling — a single sprung bend can be prised open by a heavy, head-shaking fish, so it belongs on light and medium tackle. Behind it, the rolling swivel sheds line twist before it reaches the reel.

How To Use And How To Choose

• Leader to lure — Tie the swivel eye to the leader with an improved clinch or uni and clip the lure to the snap. Use it when you are changing lures often.
• Which snap for which job — Choose the B snap for speed on light and medium gear, a crosslock snap when a big fish or heavy current means the clip must not open, and a fastach-style clip when you want the fastest change of all on small lures. The trade is always the same: the quicker it opens, the easier it opens under load.
• When the snap is the weak point — Head-shaking fish at the boat, heavy jigs swinging on the drop and hours of grinding current all work a sprung snap open. Check the arm still seats fully in its bend after each fish, and retire any clip that has been pulled straight.
• Salt water care — Rinse and dry the rig after a saltwater session. Corrosion stiffens the spring, and a stiffened snap will not seat properly.
