The Santec 7921 is a plain two-eye crane swivel in bright nickel, and it carries the widest size spread in the Santec swivel range — twelve sizes from #6 up to #12/0. A crane sits in the middle of the swivel ladder: a plain barrel is the cheapest and turns well enough until it is pulled hard, a crane keeps rotating under heavier and more sustained load, and a ball-bearing swivel keeps turning at full load at the highest cost. That makes the crane the sensible default for bait fishing, drifting sinkers and spinning blades — where the line turns constantly but the load is not extreme.

How To Rig It

• Main line to leader — Palomar to the top eye on braid, improved clinch to the leader below, so the leader changes without touching the main line knot.
• Running sinker rigs — Thread the sinker on the main line and tie the swivel beneath it; the swivel becomes the stop and the bait works freely on the leader.
• Blades, spoons and trolled rigs — Fit it between main line and any lure that rotates; add a second swivel a metre up the leader if twist still reaches the reel.
• Choosing a size — Match it to line class, sinker weight and drag, not to the fish you hope for: #6–#2 for light estuary work, #1–#2/0 for general inshore rigs, #3/0 and up for heavy bottom fishing and big live baits.
