Santec 4X Mata Bom Bottom Fishing Lure Bom Spring
The Santec 4X Mata Bom is a ready-rigged bait feeder for heavy freshwater bottom fishing. A gold-finish steel spring carries the packed bait, and six Iseama-pattern hooks hang around it on separate leaders, each sleeved in protective tubing that holds the leader's shape and stops hooks wrapping the spring. The "4X" refers to the hook wire — a four-times-strong construction meant to resist opening under load, which is what you want when a big keli or patin runs against a rod left in a holder. A luminous bead helps fish find the rig in stained or deep water, and foam beads can be slipped by the hook eyes so the hooks sit around the bait ball rather than under it. Seven hook sizes, #7 to #13.
Key Features
- Six Iseama-pattern hooks in 4X-strength wire
- Heavy-duty gold-finish steel bait spring
- Protective tubing over each leader to reduce tangles and abrasion
- Luminous bead for visibility in dark or deep water
- Foam beads can be fitted at the hook eyes to lift the hooks
- Snap swivel for fast attachment to the main line
How To Fish It
- Loading the spring — Use a mix that holds when squeezed but breaks up when rubbed. Press it in from both sides until the coils are buried, then round the ball off so it flies straight and softens on the bottom.
- Placing six hooks — Tuck two or three hook points shallowly into the bait ball and leave the rest just outside it. Fish rooting through the paste find a point whichever side they feed from.
- Using the foam beads — Add a foam bead at the hook eye on soft or silty bottoms so the hook rides above the mud instead of sinking in. Leave them off over firm gravel.
- Prebaiting the spot — Cast several loaded springs to one mark before settling in, then recast every ten to fifteen minutes until fish show.
- Fighting on strong hooks — Heavy wire needs a firm lift, not a flick, to set. Wait until the tip loads and stays bent, then sweep the rod back steadily.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Heavy mata bom work at commercial ponds (kolam pancing), reservoirs and river mouths for walking catfish (keli), patin and carp.
- North America — Multi-hook coil spring rigs for channel, blue and flathead catfish, and carp on packbait.
- Japan & East Asia — The multi-hook end of dango-zuri, paste bait packed around a rig for carp (koi) and larger pond fish.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Carp and catfish on European lakes where multi-hook rigs are permitted, and packbait rigs for carp in Gulf dams.
