Megabass Griffon Zero 45mm 7g Floating Lure

The Griffon Zero is the zero-depth member of the Griffon family, and the exact opposite of the deep-diving DD Griffon: where the DD model is built to reach 2.0–2.5 m, the Zero is rated at 0 m and never leaves the surface layer. Megabass describe it as a two-way plug, because which lure you are fishing is decided by the rod tip — hold it high and the bait stays on top and walks the dog, drop it and the bait noses under into a tight-wobbling crank just beneath the surface. The internal Shaft Balancer System works as a gyroscopic weight that keeps it tracking straight and rolling hard at both slow and fast speeds, while a hydro intake and cupped fins give the body grip on the surface so it does not blow out or skip in chop.

How To Fish It

• Walk the dog, tip high — Hold the tip at eleven o'clock and feed a steady rhythm of light downward twitches on semi-slack line so the lure zig-zags across the surface.
• Drop the tip to crank it — Same lure, same cast: lower the tip, wind steadily, and it runs as a shallow crank. Use this the moment surface strikes turn into short swirls. Through the middle of the day this mode usually out-produces the walk.
• Switch mid-retrieve — Walk it across open water, then drop the tip at a grass edge or laydown so it dips under at the strike zone. The transition often triggers the eat.

Recommended Pairing

• Medium or medium-light casting rod of 6' to 6'8" with a tip soft enough to work the bait on slack line
