LURESFACTORY - VAGABOND FROG 2.8cm 5g SOFT FROG BLADE TOPWATER
Luresfactory Vagabond Frog 2.8cm 5g Soft Frog Blade Topwater
The Vagabond is the smallest soft frog in the range at 2.8cm and 5g, and the only one supplied with a Kevlar wire leader. That wire is the point of the lure: toothy fish take a small surface bait deep, and the Kevlar prevents the bite-offs that end a session on light line. The soft, high-buoyancy body sits on the surface film and compresses on the strike, while finesse premium double blades give a downsized bait enough flash and noise to be found in stained water. At 5g it still loads a light rod properly, so you can place it under overhanging bank growth and into gaps in the weed that a 7g frog cannot be cast into quietly. It is the finesse tool of the series — for pressured water, small drains and fish that have seen full-size frogs all season.
Key Features
- Topwater soft frog, 2.8cm and 5g — smallest profile in the soft frog range
- Kevlar wire leader to resist bite-offs from toothy species
- Soft, high-buoyancy body that compresses on the strike
- Finesse premium double blades for flash and vibration
- Lifelike appearance and action
- Sharpened hook point
- Nine colours for clear, stained and low-light water
How To Fish It
- Finesse walk in tight water — Rod tip low, small even twitches so the little body swings side to side down narrow drains, reed gaps and canal margins.
- Skip under cover — Its light weight and low splash suit sidearm casts under overhanging bushes and jetty edges, then a two-second pause before the first twitch.
- Slow blade wind — In stained water, wind just fast enough to keep both blades turning and leave a bubble trail along a weed edge or drain mouth.
- Downsize when refused — When fish blow up short of a bigger frog or follow without committing, switch to this profile and slow the cadence.
- Pause a beat before setting — Keep winding through the blow-up, wait until the rod loads with the fish's weight, then sweep sideways rather than striking at the splash.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Striped snakehead (haruan) in paddy drains and ditches, where the wire leader matters most; peacock bass in lily pockets; hampala barb (sebarau) on weed lines; mid-size giant snakehead (toman) in weeded ponds.
- North America — Largemouth bass on pressured pond and pad water; chain pickerel and bowfin, both of which cut through light mono without a wire trace.
- Japan & East Asia — Smaller snakehead (raigyo) in canals and paddy channels, bass over shallow reservoir weed, and catfish (namazu) at dusk.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Saratoga and sooty grunter in weedy creek arms; perch and pike over weed in European lakes and canals, where the wire suits pike work.
