LURESFACTORY - TR LOTUS FROG 5cm 10.5g HARDBODY LURE SNAKEHEAD TOPWATER
Luresfactory TR Lotus Frog 5cm 10.5g Hardbody Topwater
The TR Lotus Frog is the standard-size model in the Lotus family, and like the smaller Jr. it does two jobs in a single retrieve. Wound slowly it cruises across the surface with a splashing track. Stop winding and it does not park on top: it sinks slowly, the way a real frog drops out of sight when something moves behind it. That change of plane is the point of the lure — you fish the surface until a fish shows interest, then give it the one thing a floating frog cannot, a slow disappearing fall in the strike zone. At 5cm and 10.5g it carries noticeably more mass than the 4.5cm / 7g Jr., which changes how it is used: it casts further and holds a line in wind, reaches distant pockets, and sinks with more authority on the pause instead of drifting. That makes the standard the choice for open reservoir weed edges and bigger fish, while the Jr. stays the finesse option for tight lotus stems and pressured water. A skirted tail works through both the swim and the fall, and the double hook is backed by a wire weed guard — no lure is completely snag-free.
Key Features
- Hard-body frog, 5cm and 10.5g — the standard size above the 4.5cm / 7g Jr.
- Cruises and splashes on a steady retrieve, then sinks slowly on the pause
- Wire weed guard over a strong double hook for fishing in and around cover
- Skirted tail adds movement and vibration on both the swim and the sink
- Five colour patterns, 01 to 05
How To Fish It
- Swim, stop, sink — Wind steadily until the frog reaches a likely spot, then stop dead and let it drop for two or three seconds on a semi-slack line. Watch the line rather than the lure; the take often comes while it is out of sight.
- Count the fall — Over deeper edges, count the sink and begin the next retrieve one count before the lure would reach bottom. The same count keeps it in the productive band.
- Fish the holes in lotus and pads — Pitch into a gap, splash it once or twice, then let it sink inside the pocket instead of dragging it back across the leaves.
- Follow up a missed strike — When a fish boils at a floating frog and misses, cast back and let this one sink on the same spot. The falling presentation converts a lot of those follow-ups.
- Set sideways, on weight — The guard must be pressed down before the point is free, and the resin body cannot fold the way a soft frog does. Wind until the rod loads, then sweep low and to the side rather than striking upward at the splash.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) around reservoir weed edges and drowned timber, striped snakehead (haruan) in lotus ponds and paddy drains, peacock bass in lily pockets, hampala barb (sebarau) on shallow river margins.
- North America — Largemouth bass in pad fields and hydrilla holes, chain pickerel in weedy shallows, northern snakehead in tidal creeks.
- Japan & East Asia — Snakehead (raigyo) in canals and irrigation ponds, bass in shallow reservoir weed, catfish (namazu) at dusk.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Saratoga and sooty grunter in lily-covered billabongs and creek pools; perch and pike over weed beds in European lakes and canals.

Recommended Pairing
- Medium-heavy casting rod with a tip sensitive enough to register a take on the sink
- 30–50 lb braid straight through, so the drop stays under control and slack can be read
- Short fluorocarbon leader in clear water; braid alone where fish must be lifted out of lotus stems
- A high-visibility braid helps, since many bites on the sink are seen on the line before they are felt
