The Goliath Buzzbait Junior is the small-water member of the range: a compact frog-inspired hard body at 4cm and 8.5g with a front-mounted stainless propeller that buzzes, pops and throws spray as soon as the retrieve begins. It covers what the 26–30g buzzbaits cannot — light spinning tackle, small ponds, drains, irrigation canals, narrow gaps in vegetation, and days when fish are keyed on small prey. Being a hard body rather than a bare wire frame, it casts accurately for its size and drops into tight pockets under overhanging cover. A premium double hook sits close under the body, so it travels through light grass with far less fouling than an exposed treble.

How To Fish It

• Start the blade on landing — Wind the instant it touches down, rod tip up at about 11 o'clock, so the propeller breaks the surface immediately. On light gear this takes only moderate speed.
• Then find the minimum speed — Lower the rod tip and slow to the least speed that keeps the blade turning. A small buzzbait crawling along gives a fish more time to intercept it.
• Fish the low-light windows — Dawn, dusk and overcast conditions, plus shaded pockets under trees and bank vegetation at midday.
• Work tight targets — Cast parallel along pad edges and grass lines, and drop it into holes in matted vegetation a larger lure cannot fit.
• Use deflection — Steer it so the blade ticks a stem or pad. That stumble in rhythm is the strongest trigger a buzzbait has, at any size.
• Hold off on the hookset — Keep winding through the boil, wait until the rod loads, then sweep sideways. On light tackle a hard upward strike on slack line pulls the double hook clear.
