LURESFACTORY - TR CRAZY FROG 2.5cm 6g HARDBODY LURE TOPWATER
Luresfactory TR Crazy Frog 2.5cm 6g Hardbody Topwater
The TR Crazy Frog is the original bright-colour run of the 2.5cm, 6g Crazy Frog popper body. The face is cut concave, so a pull on the rod tip scoops water forward and the lure spits, chugs and splashes without travelling far. At 2.5cm this is the shortest topwater in the Lure Factory range, yet it still carries 6g — dense enough to cast properly on light gear, which most lures this size are not. Where this version differs from the later run is the palette: it is finished in seven loud attractor patterns built around red heads, golds, limes and hot pinks, rather than the muted or natural shades used elsewhere in the range. That makes it the small popper for coloured monsoon water, tannin-stained drains, low cloud and dusk sessions, where a fish has to find the lure by sound first and confirm it by contrast second. Silicone skirt strands keep pulsing while the lure sits, and a rear double hook mounted close to the body keeps exposure lower than a treble around light grass — no lure is completely snag-free.
Key Features
- Hard-body surface popper, 2.5cm and 6g
- Concave face throws spray and makes noise on a short pull
- Seven high-visibility attractor colours for stained and low-light water
- Flexible silicone skirt keeps working while the lure is stationary
- Rear double hook mounted close to the body
- Dense for its length, so it casts well on light spinning and casting tackle
How To Fish It
- Pop, pop, wait — Two short downward pulls with the rod tip low, then a three-second stop. Keep the rod under horizontal so the pulls drive the face into the water rather than lifting the lure out of it.
- Fish the noise, not the distance — In dirty water the sound is doing the work. Slow the whole retrieve down and give the fish time to home in between pops.
- Hold a pocket — Because it barely moves per pop you can keep it inside a gap in the reeds, a shaded corner or the end of a branch for far longer than a bigger lure allows.
- After rain — Work drain mouths, inflows and coloured margins where fish hunt by vibration; the bright finishes stay visible in water the natural patterns disappear in.
- Set on weight — Wind through the splash, wait for the rod to load, then sweep sideways. Small hard bodies are easily pulled clear by an early strike.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Striped snakehead (haruan) in drains, paddy channels and small ponds; hampala barb (sebarau) in shallow river runs; peacock bass in lily pockets; mangrove jack in narrow creeks.
- North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass in ponds and creek backwaters, crappie and bluegill on light tackle, chain pickerel along weedy margins.
- Japan & East Asia — Bass in small reservoirs and irrigation ponds, and snakehead (raigyo) in narrow canals where a compact popper fits the water.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Sooty grunter, spangled perch and small saratoga in creek pools; perch, chub and asp in European rivers and canals.
