The TR Crazy Bass is a hard-body surface lure shaped and painted as a small bass. That is the point of the design: almost every large freshwater predator eats juvenile bass and other small panfish, so a lure that looks like one arriving on the surface is a familiar meal rather than an abstract disturbance. A flat, cupped front face catches and shoves water on every twitch, so the lure pops, spits and splashes instead of simply swimming, and a flexible silicone skirt trails behind, pulsing on the retrieve and continuing to move through each pause. A close-fitting rear double hook sits tight against the body, giving less hook exposure through light grass and surface cover than an exposed treble — though no lure is completely snag-free. Two sizes are offered: the full-size Crazy Bass at 6cm and 12g, and the Crazy Bass Jr. at 3.5cm and 6.5g, both across the same ten realistic fish patterns.

How To Fish It

• Pop and pause (6cm) — Two or three sharp downward taps of the rod tip to make it spit, then stop for two to three seconds. The 12g body throws a larger splash and calls fish from further away, so allow a longer pause for them to arrive.
• Finesse pops (3.5cm) — The Jr. needs a softer, faster wrist action. Small quick taps with short one-second pauses suit small water, clear margins and fish that have refused a bigger lure.
• Match the size to the forage — Where predators are feeding on juvenile bass, tilapia fry or small panfish, drop to the Jr.; where the resident baitfish are hand-sized, the 6cm is the closer match.
• Steady wake retrieve — A slow, constant wind makes the body track forward and drag a wake with the skirt trailing. Use it to cover a grass edge or bank quickly before switching back to popping.
• Pause before setting — Striking at the splash pulls a hard body away from the fish. Keep winding through the blow-up, wait until the rod loads with the fish's weight, then sweep sideways.

• Southeast Asia — Peacock bass over shallow flats and lily pockets, giant snakehead (toman) around weeded margins and drowned timber, striped snakehead (haruan) in canals and drains, hampala barb (sebarau) on river weed lines. The Jr. also takes smaller sebarau and jungle perch in clear streams.
• North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass around pads, grass edges and boat docks; chain pickerel and bowfin in southern backwaters; the Jr. for crappie, rock bass and small stream bass.
• Japan & East Asia — Bass over shallow reservoir weed and along seawalls, snakehead (raigyo) on canal cover, catfish (namazu) at dusk.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, sooty grunter and saratoga in creek pools and billabongs; perch, chub, asp and small pike on European lakes, canals and rivers.
