The Angry Duck is a novelty-profile surface lure shaped like a duckling working across the top. The wide body, painted detail and realistic eyes are the point of the design: on reservoirs and canals where fish see poppers, pencils and frogs every week, an unfamiliar silhouette pushing an unfamiliar wake often draws a strike a conventional lure no longer gets. It is built to be retrieved slowly with a duck-like waddle rather than burned, and the silicone skirt adds vibration even when the lure is barely moving. A close-fitting double hook runs along the underside, so it travels through light grass with far less fouling than exposed trebles.

Sizes

• 3cm (#S) — the most compact option, for small ponds, drains and canals, and days when fish are on very small surface prey. Suits light spinning tackle.
• 4cm (#M) — 9g — the general-purpose size: enough weight for controlled casting on medium tackle, and the easiest of the three to hold at a slow waddle.
• 5cm (#L) — 15g — the long-cast option: a larger target, a stronger wake, and enough weight to handle wind on open reservoir flats.

How To Fish It

• Slow and steady — Retrieve just fast enough to keep the body wobbling and the skirt breathing. Hurrying it removes the duck-like action that makes it different.
• Stop-and-go — Wind a few turns, pause two or three seconds and let the skirt collapse and flare. Fish tracking the lure often commit on the pause or the first turn after it.
• Twitch it along cover — Short rod-tip twitches kick the body sideways. Cast parallel to weed lines and grass fringes so it stays in the strike zone.
• Ride the cover — The close double hook lets you draw it over light grass and lily stems; the change of rhythm as it drops back into open water is a strong trigger.
• Pause before setting — On a blow-up, keep winding, wait a beat until the fish loads the rod, then sweep sideways. Striking at the splash pulls the double hook away before the fish has it.

• Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) guarding fry balls in reservoir weed, haruan in drains and paddy canals, barramundi (siakap) on mangrove margins.
• North America — Largemouth bass over grass mats and pad fields, northern pike in weedy bays, chain pickerel in backwater ponds.
• Japan & East Asia — Largemouth bass on pond and lake shallows where an unusual profile beats pressured-water refusals; snakehead (kamuruchi) in canals.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Barramundi and saratoga in northern Australian impoundments; pike and perch on European reed lines; tilapia in Middle Eastern dams.
