LURESFACTORY - SNAKEHEAD FISH 4cm 6.6g SOFT LURE TOPWATER
Luresfactory Snakehead Fish 4cm 6.6g Soft Lure Topwater
Most surface lures for snakehead imitates a lure. This one imitates a young snakehead. The 4cm soft body is moulded as a small snakehead fish, and that choice is not decoration — it targets a specific, well-known behaviour. Adult giant snakehead (toman) guarding a ball of fry will attack anything that looks like a rival or a predator moving over the school, and a lure shaped like a juvenile of their own species is exactly that trigger. Cast at the edge of a fry ball or worked over a guarded shallow, it draws a defensive strike from a fish that has already refused frogs. Away from spawning fish it still works simply as forage, because large snakehead, peacock bass and hampala readily eat smaller fish of any species. At 6.6g the body is dense enough to be pitched accurately into narrow openings. The double hooks sit close to the body, so the lure crosses light grass and weed with far less exposure than a treble-hooked lure — no lure is completely snag-free. A rear metal spinner blade rotates on the retrieve for extra flash, vibration and water disturbance.
Key Features
- Small snakehead-fish profile rather than a frog silhouette
- Soft body that compresses on the bite so the hook points come clear
- 4cm at 6.6g — compact but dense enough for accurate casting
- Close-fitting double-hook configuration for fishing around light cover
- Rear metal spinner blade for flash, vibration and surface disturbance
- Textured finish, ten color patterns from natural greys and greens to bright orange and white
- Works on steady, twitching and stop-and-go retrieves
How To Fish It
- Work the fry ball — When you find a ball of snakehead fry with the parent fish under it, do not cast into the middle. Land the lure two meters past it and bring it across the outside edge; the guarding fish comes out to meet it.
- Steady wind to keep the blade turning — A constant moderate retrieve with the rod tip low keeps the rear blade spinning; it stalls if the retrieve is slow or uneven.
- Twitch, pause, repeat — Two or three short rod-tip taps followed by a pause makes the lure look like a small fish trying to get clear. The blade keeps fluttering through the pause.
- Squeeze the water out — A soft body worked hard takes on water through the hook slots. Squeeze it out between casts so the lure keeps its buoyancy and still folds properly on the strike.
- Let the fish take it, then set — Defensive strikes are often a slash rather than an eat. Keep winding, wait until the rod loads with real weight, then sweep hard and low. Striking at the splash pulls the lure away.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) guarding fry balls on reservoir weed edges and drowned timber, striped snakehead (haruan) in drains and lotus ponds, peacock bass in lily pockets, hampala barb (sebarau) on river weed lines.
- North America — Largemouth bass over grass and pads, chain pickerel and bowfin in backwaters, and northern snakehead in tidal creeks where the same fry-guarding behaviour occurs.
- Japan & East Asia — Snakehead (raigyo) in canals and irrigation ponds, bass over shallow reservoir weed, catfish (namazu) at dusk.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Saratoga and sooty grunter in billabongs and creek pools; pike and perch over shallow weed in European lakes and canals.
