At 8g in a 4.5cm body it carries more mass per centimetre than the resin jump frogs in the range, so it casts hard into wind, sits a little deeper in the surface film and pushes more water on a steady wind. Unlike a pure jump frog it works on three retrieves — twitching, jumping and straight retrieval — which makes it a practical single choice for anglers covering ponds, lakes, rivers and canals in one session.

How To Fish It

• Steady retrieval over cover — Wind at a constant medium speed so the body pushes a wake and the skirt streams behind it. The most searching retrieve of the three, and the one to start with on unfamiliar water.
• Twitch and pause — Short rod-tip twitches then a two-second stop. The skirt keeps breathing while the lure sits still, which is when most fish commit.
• Jumping cadence in pockets — Sharper downward taps hop it from hole to hole across matted duckweed and lily pads.
• Use the weight in wind — Its 8g body holds a line in a crosswind that lighter frogs cannot, so it is the pick for exposed reservoir banks and open canal runs.
• Pause a beat before setting — The hard body will not compress, so keep winding through the blow-up, wait for the rod to load, then sweep sideways.
