The MF Prodigy Buzzbait is a heavy-duty surface lure built to make noise and hold a wake across open shallows. At 11cm and 30.2g it casts a long way and stays stable in wind. What separates it from a plain buzzbait is the multi-sound system: the oversized stainless propeller slaps the surface, strikes the metal shaft clacker, and contacts a stainless ball bearing near the head — three contact points giving a rough, uneven clank rather than a single clean buzz. A silicone skirt pulses behind, half-hiding a stout 5/0 single hook.

How To Fish It

• Get the blade up first — Start winding the moment it lands, rod tip high at about 11 o'clock, so the propeller breaks the surface within the first metre. A buzzbait that sinks on landing has missed the fish that heard the splash.
• Then find the minimum speed — Once it is tracking, drop the rod tip toward the water and back off to the slowest speed that keeps the blade turning. Slow keeps it in the strike window longer.
• Fish low light — Dawn, dusk, overcast days and warm nights; in flat sun, work shade under trees and pontoons.
• Cast parallel to the edge — Run it along weed lines, pad margins and dead timber so it stays in the productive strip for the whole retrieve.
• Use deflection — Let the blade tick a stump or reed. That stall and change of rhythm is the strongest trigger a buzzbait has.
• Do not swing at the splash — Keep winding through the blow-up, wait a beat until the fish loads the rod, then sweep sideways. Setting on the boil pulls the lure away.
