LURESFACTORY - MF CAIMAN POPPER 10cm 18.2g HARDBODY LURE TOPWATER
Luresfactory MF Caiman Popper 10cm 18.2g Hardbody Topwater
The Caiman Popper is a surface popper built on a realistic caiman-inspired body with detailed scales and textured skin — a long, reptilian profile that reads very differently from an ordinary minnow or frog, and looks like something vulnerable crossing open water. At the front, a wide concave mouth catches and pushes water every time the lure is twitched or pulled, producing pops, splashes and surface disturbance that call fish in from a distance. It can also be worked side to side with repeated rod-tip twitches: short inputs keep it working over one spot, harder pulls give louder pops and more disturbance. It carries a sharp rear treble and a strong nose line-tie, and the rear-weighted profile supports controlled casting.
At 10cm it is the longest lure in this large-size group, but at 18.2g it is also the lightest for its length — barely half the weight per centimetre of the Big Bob. That low density is why it behaves the way it does: it floats high with the cup well clear of the water, so the mouth bites air as well as water and the pop comes out louder and sharper. It also stays where you put it. A high-floating popper can be worked in one small area for a long time without leaving the strike zone, which is what you want over a submerged snag, a drop-off or a drain mouth where you know a fish is sitting but cannot make it chase.

How To Fish It
- Loud chug — Long, firm sweeps of the rod so the cup grabs a full mouthful of water. Use this to call fish up over deep water, snag piles and drop-offs.
- Work one spot — Short, soft twitches keep the lure popping almost on the same patch of water. Give a known holding spot thirty seconds of this before moving on.
- Walk the cup — Rod tip low with slight slack, twitching in rhythm, to swing the long body side to side between pops.
- Pop and long pause — Two pops, then let the rings spread completely before the next input. The high float lets it sit indefinitely, and that stillness is often what triggers a big fish.
- Open water, not matting — The exposed rear treble is a hooking advantage but has no weed guard, so fish it over clean water, around structure edges and along weed lines rather than inside surface scum.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) on open reservoir water and around timber; barramundi (siakap) at drain mouths, jetty lights and mangrove edges; hampala barb (sebarau) in river pools; peacock bass on dam walls.
- North America — Largemouth bass on main-lake points and around laydowns; striped bass and inshore redfish and speckled trout over grass flats.
- Japan & East Asia — Seabass (suzuki) in harbours and river mouths on a chugging retrieve; bass on reservoir points; snakehead (raigyo) in open canal stretches.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Barramundi and saratoga in impoundments and billabongs; queenfish and trevally over Gulf flats and rock walls; pike on open lake margins.

- PE 3–4 braid with a 40–60 lb fluorocarbon or nylon leader for abrasion around timber and rock
- 3000–5000 spinning reel, or a 150–200 baitcaster, with a fast retrieve for slack control
- Upgrade to a heavier-wire treble and split rings if you are targeting large toman or barramundi
