The Gecko Rubber Frog is a compact soft-bodied surface lure for vegetation, shallow water and any cover holding predatory fish. Its 4cm body and 6.5g weight give a small presentation with balanced casting performance, and the textured body with raised detail and bright colour pattern makes it visible on the water. A 1/0 double hook sits close against the body so it moves through light grass and surface cover with a lower risk of snagging than fully exposed hooks — no lure is completely snag-free. At the rear, rotating double spinner blades add flash, vibration and water disturbance on the retrieve, which keeps a small lure noticeable in stained water, low light and vegetation. Made in Thailand.

The soft body is the real point of difference in a range where the MF frogs are hard resin. On the bite a rubber body collapses under the fish's jaw and lets both hook points come clear at once, so you set sooner and harder than with a hard frog — the delayed sweep a resin body demands is not needed here. The cost is maintenance: a soft body takes water in through the hook slots, and a waterlogged frog sits low and loses its skating action, so squeeze it out between casts and after every fish. Expect to replace it when the rubber tears; a resin frog will outlast several soft ones. The blades add a second trade-off — they need a minimum speed to spin, so where a hard frog can be crawled dead-slow, the Gecko wants steady motion.

How To Fish It

• Steady buzz — Start winding as it lands and keep a constant speed so the blades stay turning and the body skates. Drop below that speed and the blades stall.
• Stop-and-go on the edge — Run it along a grass or reed line, kill the retrieve for a second so the body settles, then restart. The blades flare on the restart and often trigger a following fish.
• Squeeze the body — Before the next cast, compress the frog in your hand to push out water and air. This restores its float and skating action, and it is the one habit that keeps a soft frog fishing well all day.
• Set fast, not late — Unlike the hard resin frogs, the body collapses instantly under pressure. Once you feel weight, set firmly and straight away rather than waiting.
• Check the hook after each fish — Make sure the points rebound flush to the body and the rubber has not split around the hook slots.
