The Bufo Let's Go V.5 is a handmade floating frog on the larger 5cm body, at 12.9g. It is the second-heaviest lure in the Let's Go range and sits in a deliberate gap: 0.9g above the 12g V.3, and just over two grams below the 15g V.9. That small step is enough to matter. It carries the same long silhouette and wide side-to-side sweep as the other 5cm frogs, but the extra mass loads a rod harder for distance and settles the body a fraction deeper into the film, so a plain steady wind pushes a firmer wake instead of skating. Reach for it when the V.3 is not quite getting there in wind, but the V.9 sits too low and lands too hard for the water in front of you. The brightly finished resin body gives a clear visual target, flexible silicone skirt strands spread and pulse behind it, and the floating body keeps the lure on the surface when it is stopped. A rear double hook sits close against the body, giving less hook exposure than a treble around light weed, though no lure is completely snag-free.

How To Fish It

• Reach the far edge — Use the weight to cover the weed line, timber or bank the 11g and 12g frogs land short of, then work it the whole way home.
• Steady wake retrieve — A constant medium-slow wind settles the body into the film and drags a defined V-wake. The mass keeps it tracking straight where a lighter frog starts to skip and roll.
• Twitch and pause — Two or three short rod-tip twitches, then stop for two to three seconds. The 5cm body swings wide, so leave slack and let each sweep finish.
• Grass edges and open pockets — Best over light grass, sparse pads and clean holes. On thick matted salvinia the weight presses into the mat; use sharper downward taps or step down to a lighter version.
• Pause before setting — Striking at the splash pulls a hard body clear of the fish. Wind through the blow-up, wait until the rod loads with weight, then sweep sideways.
