The Dancing Crab is a compact spinnerbait built around a crab-shaped head rather than the usual baitfish profile, which is why it works where conventional spinnerbaits do not. Crustaceans, not baitfish, are the main food of black sea bream and many rock-dwelling predators, and this lure gives them a crab silhouette plus the flash and vibration of a micro blade. The head runs hook-up over rock, oyster beds and rubble with the blade acting as a keel, so it stays fishable in places that eat treble-hooked lures. Blade, skirt and hooks all come apart, so it can be stripped back for spooky fish or built up with a trailer for more profile. There are no rattles: the appeal is silhouette, flash and motion.

How To Fish It

• Bottom bump (chinu style) — Let it hit bottom, then wind slowly with the rod low so the head ticks along rock and oyster shell. Pause every few turns; black sea bream usually take it as it settles.
• Slow roll over structure — Count it down to just above weed, rubble or a submerged wall and hold a steady, slow retrieve so the blade keeps turning without lifting the lure.
• Lift and fall — Sweep the rod to lift it a metre off the bottom, then track it back down on a semi-slack line. The blade flutters on the drop and triggers following fish.
