Little Jack Bilhouette Pencil Popper Floating 135mm / 160mm

The Bilhouette is a floating surface lure built around a realistic iwashi (sardine) silhouette, and it is designed to be fished two ways without changing lures. Worked hard, the cupped head throws water like a popper; worked with a rhythmic rod-and-reel cadence, the same head digs in and swims like a diving pencil. Feather fins at the pectorals and a brush tail give the silhouette movement even at rest. The line eye is pushed out beyond the cup so a snap clips on easily, and a silicone tube on the rear helps keep the trailing hook from fouling back into the body on the cast.

How To Fish It

• Popping bursts — Sharp downward strokes with the rod low, taking up slack between each, so the cup blows out a curtain of water. Fire two or three, then pause and let the brush tail settle.
• Diving pencil swim — Long, even rod pulls synchronised with the reel handle so the head bites down and the lure swims subsurface before popping back up. Use it when fish follow but will not commit to a hard pop.
• Walk the dog — Slack-line rhythmic twitches, one reel turn per twitch, so the body glides side to side. Best on calm mornings and in clear water over shallow reef.
• Skipping — Low sidearm casts that skip the lure into wash, under structure or alongside a bait ball, then a hard first pop the moment it lands.

• Southeast Asia — Queenfish (talang), giant and golden trevally (gerepoh), Spanish mackerel (tenggiri) and cobia over reef edges, drop-offs and current lines.
• North America — Striped bass and bluefish on the northeast coast, roosterfish and jack crevalle in Baja, plus false albacore on inshore bait schools.
• Japan & East Asia — Classic aomono (yellowtail, buri and hiramasa) shore plugging and offshore casting, plus Spanish mackerel (sawara) and shore-caught trevally.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Longtail tuna, queenfish and mackerel off Australian and Gulf headlands; bluefish, leerfish and Atlantic bonito along Mediterranean and Iberian coasts.

Recommended Pairing
