The WH-3 is a Japanese-made offset hook for rigging soft-plastic worms and finesse baits. The offset shank holds the bait securely and keeps it streamlined, so it tracks straight through cover and open water rather than spinning on the retrieve. A forged body takes the load of an aggressive strike, the straight Eagle Cutting point is shaped for rapid penetration and responsive hooksets, and the ringed eye gives a secure attachment for knot or snap. A tinted black-nickel finish keeps the hook subdued in clear water.

In the WH range the WH-3 is the general-purpose offset: it carries the full #1/0 to #5/0 ladder plus a single small #2, five hooks per pack. If you keep one worm hook in the box for reservoir and estuary plastics, this is the size spread that covers most of it.

How To Rig It

• Weedless Texas rig — Enter the nose of the worm, exit through the belly a centimetre down, slide the plastic up over the offset crank until the head seats at the eye, rotate the hook 180°, then lay it along the body and bury the point just under the skin. Add a bullet sinker above for depth.
• Weedless Carolina rig — Run the sinker above a swivel with a 40–60 cm leader and drag it slowly across flats and drop-offs so the plastic trails above the weight.
• Hooking a weedless rig — The buried point must cut back out through the plastic, so wind down to a tight line and set hard and low. Slack-line strikes are the usual reason a weedless hook pulls.
• Size to bait — #2 for 2–3in finesse plastics, #1/0–#2/0 for 4in worms, #3/0 for 5in, #4/0–#5/0 for 6in worms and bulky creature baits.
