HINOTSU - SJ-2 SLOW JIGGING HOOK PACK W/RING 47812 FISHING HOOK
Hinotsu SJ-2 Slow Jigging Hook Pack w/Ring 47812
The SJ-2 is a jigging hook supplied with a solid ring already fitted, engineered for slow-pitch and conventional vertical jigging. Slow pitch asks something specific of a hook: the jig falls flat and fluttering, fish inhale it on slack line, and there is no hard hookset to rely on, so the point must be fine enough to penetrate on rod load alone and the bend strong enough to hold a deep fish afterwards. The SJ-2 answers that with forged construction, a chemically sharpened eagle-cutting point and straight-point alignment that pulls into the tip instead of levering the bend open.
This is a hook and ring, not a finished rig: whip it to assist cord to build a single or twin assist, or hang the solid ring off a heavy split ring on the jig.
Key Features
- Forged bend, reinforced against opening under heavy drag
- Solid ring fitted — ready for assist cord, or hang it straight off a split ring
- Eagle-cutting point, chemically sharpened: angled cutting edges on a fine tip
- Straight-point alignment, so rod pressure pulls into the point rather than levering the bend
- Sharp barb, so a point set on slack line keeps its hold
- Gape sized for front and rear mounting, since a flat-falling jig is eaten from behind as often as from the head
- Low-glare tinted finish for clear blue water
- Two sizes, #7/0 and #9/0
How To Rig It
- Building the assist — Fold Kevlar assist cord over the shank, thread the tag back through the sheath, whip it down with assist thread and seal the wrap. Set the finished length at roughly one third to one half of the jig body, ring to hook bend.
- Front and rear — Slow pitch normally runs a hook at both ends of the jig; vertical and speed jigging usually run the front only, since fish attack the head of a rising jig.
- Attachment — Join the solid ring to the jig with a heavy split ring so the cord never bears on a seam. Check both after every fish.
- Fighting — With a point set by rod load rather than a strike, keep the rod bent and let the drag give line. Slacking off is what loses slow-pitch fish.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Red snapper (ikan merah), grouper (kerapu), coral trout and amberjack on deep reef and wreck marks; gerepoh (giant trevally) and tenggiri over the same ground.
- North America — Amberjack, grouper and snapper on Gulf and Atlantic wrecks; lingcod, rockfish and halibut on Pacific slow-pitch drops.
- Japan & East Asia — The home of the technique: madai, kue, akamutsu and hata on slow pitch, buri and hiramasa where the drop turns into vertical jigging.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Yellowtail kingfish, pearl perch and hapuku on Australian deep reef; grouper and cobia in the Gulf; pollack and ling on European wrecks.
