HINOTSU - OTOTO SUTTE SQUID HOOK 100mm SQUID HOOK
Hinotsu Ototo Sutte Squid Hook 100mm — 3681
The Ototo Sutte 3681 is a large 100mm luminous squid jig built for night fishing, deep water and other low-visibility conditions. The baitfish-shaped body is covered in scale-textured fabric and finished in UV-reactive, glow-in-the-dark material, so squid find it from further away than a plain cloth jig allows. The slim, balanced profile gives a natural swimming and falling presentation whether lifted, jigged or simply allowed to sink, while reflective 3D eyes, feather fins and body markings add the detail of a small injured baitfish. A double-tier Y2 crown-hook system provides multiple catching points, and the front attachment loop makes it quick to rig as a main jig or as a dropper above a weighted one.
Key Features
- 100mm body — a large sutte for bigger squid and for standing out at depth
- High-intensity glow-in-the-dark body with a UV-reactive coating; charges under natural or artificial light
- Realistic baitfish profile with natural scale-textured cloth covering
- Reflective 3D eyes give squid a visible strike target
- Feather fins produce subtle movement even on a dead pause
- Slim body for reduced water resistance and a stable sinking posture
- Double-tier Y2 crown-hook system with multiple sharp, corrosion-resistant points
- Front attachment loop for fast rigging
- Eleven high-visibility colour patterns
How To Fish It
- As the dropper on an ika-metal rig — Tie it to a short branch line 30–50 cm above a weighted metal jig. The metal gets the rig down and supplies the rhythm; this cloth-bodied sutte is usually the one squid actually grab. At 100mm it sits at the large end, so run it when squid are running big or smaller jigs are being ignored.
- As the main jig on a traditional candat rig — Rig one or two on droppers above a sinker, drop to the bottom under the boat lights, then lift and hold. Work a slow, deliberate rhythm rather than the fast jerking used on hard lures.
- Lift, then hold — Raise the rod smoothly through 3–5 winds, then stop dead and hold for 3–10 seconds. Squid come on during the pause and the fall, almost never on the lift. If nothing happens at one depth, move up in stages and search the whole column.
- Never strike, wind at one speed — A take feels like the jig has become heavier, or the tip fails to spring back. Lean into it slowly to load the rod, then wind steadily all the way in. Do not pump: slack line lets a squid release, and crown hooks are barbless.
- Recharge the glow — Give luminous colours 20–30 seconds under the deck light or a UV torch before every drop, and again whenever the glow dulls.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Sotong (bigfin reef squid) and cuttlefish on night candat trips from Malaysian, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian ports, worked under boat lights over reef edges, wrecks and jetty ground.
- North America — Market squid and Humboldt squid on Pacific night trips, and squid taken deliberately as fresh bait ahead of rockfish, halibut and tuna sessions.
- Japan & East Asia — Aoriika, kensaki-ika and yariika. A 100mm cloth sutte of this type is the classic dropper above a metal lead jig on ika-metal boats, and a shore option where large squid are present.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari and arrow squid from boats, breakwalls and deep jetties; cuttlefish on Gulf marks; European squid and cuttlefish on Mediterranean and Atlantic night grounds.

Recommended Pairing

- PE 0.6–1.0 braid with a 2–3 m fluorocarbon leader; keep the branch line for the dropper slightly lighter than the main leader
- A 2500–3000 size spinning reel with a smooth start-up drag for the steady, unbroken retrieve squid demand
- Pair above a 55–150 g weighted metal squid jig, or above a sinker on a traditional dropper rig
