HINOTSU - HARD ROUND SNAP 7717 FISHING SNAP
Hinotsu Hard Round Snap 7717 Fishing Snap
The Hinotsu 7717 is the general-purpose snap in the Hinotsu range — the default choice when you want one snap that handles hard baits, jigs and rigs without either the extra bulk of a locking insurance closure or the extra cost of a bearing swivel. Its rounded profile gives the lure a wide, smooth bearing surface so it can swing and swim on its own action rather than being held stiff by the connector. Construction is durable wire with a cross-locking mechanism that resists accidental opening during casting, retrieving and fighting fish. The nickel finish keeps the profile clean and low-visibility while adding protection against rust and saltwater corrosion. Supplied 10 pieces per bag in sizes #00 to #2.
Within the Hinotsu snap family: the egg snap 7721 is the light, compact option for small lures and light tackle; the hard round snap 7717 is the general-purpose workhorse; the Special Nice snap 7722 adds a silicone-sleeved contact area for quiet, mark-free connection; the diamond insurance snap 7723 adds a second interlocking closure for big fish and structure; and the ball bearing hard round snap 7711 is the only one in the range with a bearing swivel built in, for spinning lures, jigs and trolling.
Key Features
- Rounded snap profile allows greater lure movement and a more natural swimming action
- Secure cross-lock mechanism helps prevent hooks, lures and rigs detaching under load
- Durable wire construction designed to hold its shape and resist opening under tension
- Corrosion-resistant nickel finish for saltwater conditions
- Low-profile design keeps visible hardware to a minimum at the lure
- Quick lure changes without cutting and retying the line
- Four sizes (#00 to #2), 10 pieces per bag
How To Rig It
- Where it goes in the rig — The snap sits at the end of the leader, carrying the lure only. Tie to the closed bend with a uni or improved clinch and clip the lure's front eye or split ring into the gate, so the lure hangs on the round section and not against the closure.
- Matching size to tackle — #00 and #0 suit light shore and estuary work with small minnows, micro metals and jig heads; #1 and #2 cover mid-size hard baits, casting metals and inshore boat fishing. Size to the class of tackle and the fish, not to the lure.
- When the snap becomes the weakest link — A cross-lock gate is strong for general work but this series is sold by size, not by a printed lb rating. On locked drags, heavy jigs, or around structure where a fish has to be turned, move to the diamond insurance snap 7723 with its second closure, or a rated jig snap such as the SP-1 7719, listed at 180 lb (S) and 230 lb (M).
- Watch for line in the gate — Leader worked into the cross-lock is the usual cause of a snap opening. Seat the knot on the closed bend, check it after snags, and re-tie if the wraps have crept toward the gate.
- Rinse in fresh water after saltwater use — Salt dries inside the cross-lock and stiffens the action. Rinse the terminal set after every trip, dry before storage, and retire any snap with rust at the closure or a gate that no longer clicks shut.
