Hinotsu Egg Snap Black Nickel 7721 Fishing Snap

The Hinotsu 7721 is the light, small-profile snap in the Hinotsu range — the one to reach for when the connector must not outweigh the lure, and change speed matters more than locked-drag strength. Its rounded egg-shaped profile distributes force smoothly across the connection instead of concentrating it in a sharp bend, which helps protect lure eyelets and split rings from being worn or reshaped. An extra-secure locking mechanism resists accidental opening during casting, retrieving and fighting fish, while the smooth wire surface keeps abrasion off the lure eye. The black nickel finish adds corrosion resistance and a low-reflection appearance around the lure. Supplied 12 pieces per bag in sizes #0 to #3.

How To Rig It

• Where it goes in the rig — Tie the leader to the closed upper bend with a snug uni or improved clinch, wet the knot, and clip the lure's front eye or split ring into the gate. On lures that spin, run leader to a swivel first and hang the snap below it.
• Matching size to tackle — Use #0 and #1 with light spinning and casting outfits, small minnows, micro metals and soft-plastic jig heads; step to #2 and #3 for larger hard baits and inshore pelagic work. Match the snap to the class of tackle you are fishing, not to the size of the lure.
• When the snap becomes the weakest link — This series is sold by size, not by a printed lb rating. Any snap on a locked drag, on heavy jigs, or in structure where a fish must be turned is carrying the whole rig on one gate. For that work move to the diamond insurance snap 7723 or a rated jig snap such as the SP-1 7719, listed at 180 lb (S) and 230 lb (M).
• Check the gate every few casts — Close it fully, then pull the lure sideways against the closure. A gate that no longer seats cleanly, or has been sprung by a hard fight, is finished.
• Rinse in fresh water after saltwater use — Salt dries inside the gate and stiffens it. Rinse the terminal set after every trip, dry it before it goes back in the box, and retire any snap showing rust bloom at the closure.
