Hinotsu Assist Twin Hook AH-1 / AH-2 / AH-3 Jigging Hook

This is a finished rig, not cord and hooks to tie yourself. Each assembly is two forged, inline-point hooks whipped onto braided assist cord and joined to a solid ring, ready to drop onto a jig's split ring. The two hooks sit on their own tethers, so a fish that swipes at a fluttering jig rather than eating it still finds a point, and once hooked there is a second point of contact to fight against. Each shank carries a dressing — flash or luminous material — that adds movement and a small baitfish silhouette beside the jig. Two complete rigs, four hooks, per packet, in four sizes.

The three models differ by dressing, not by size or strength. The hooks, the cord and the four sizes are common to all three. AH-1 is reflective flash thread — the neutral choice for clear water and daylight. AH-2 is luminous fish skin with fine flash strands, the most bait-like of the three, for deep drops and dirty water where a glow silhouette does the work. AH-3 is luminous thread with bright green flash: the loudest, for night jigging and depths where light has run out. Charge the luminous models with a torch before the drop.

Against a bare assist hook you tie yourself — the SJ series, or cord from a spool — the AH trades adjustability for time. You cannot set your own length; you pick the size that matches your jig. What you get back is a consistent whip finish, ready in the dark.

How To Rig It

Hang it on a solid ring — Join the rig's solid ring to the jig with a heavy split ring rather than threading cord onto the split ring itself. Cord bearing on a split-ring seam is how assists fail.
Front or rear — Front (nose) mount is standard for vertical and speed jigging, where fish attack the head of a rising jig. Rear, or front and rear, suits slow pitch, where the jig falls flat and fish come from behind.
Match size to jig, not to fish — The assist should reach roughly one third to one half of the jig's body length, ring to hook bend. Too short and a short-biting fish never meets the point; too long and it wraps the leader on the drop.
Twin over clean ground — A twin converts more half-hearted swipes than a single, but two hooks also find rock, rope and leader far more readily. Keep a single in the box for foul ground.
Charge the glow — Hold a torch or UV light on the AH-2 and AH-3 dressings for a few seconds before each drop, and again between drifts.

North America — Amberjack, grouper and snapper on Gulf and Atlantic wrecks; yellowtail, lingcod and rockfish on Pacific jigging trips.
Japan & East Asia — Buri and hiramasa on vertical and speed jigging, madai and kasago on slow pitch, tachiuo at night where the luminous dressings earn their place.
