HEARTY RISE - STAINLESS STEEL STRAIGHT SPREADER 40CM
Hearty Rise Stainless Steel Straight Spreader 40 cm
A spreader is a rigid arm that holds a dropper away from the main line, so the bait or soft lure fishes in clear water instead of wrapping around everything above it. This Hearty Rise unit is a 40 cm straight arm in high-strength stainless steel, with a weld ring design that resists damage at the load points and a fully electroplated, polished finish to prevent rust. The slender arm presents little surface to the current, so the rig is less affected by water flow, and a rolling swivel turns freely at the connection, keeping the dropper out of the main line.
Key Features
- High-strength stainless steel, fully electroplated and polished to prevent rust
- Weld ring design at the connection points, resistant to damage under load
- Rolling swivel turns freely to reduce line tangles; 40 cm straight-arm length
- Slender arm for low water resistance; lets a soft worm or bait swing naturally
Why 40 cm
Arm length sets how far the dropper sits off the main line, and 40 cm is long by spreader standards. That buys two things. First, you can fish a longer dropper: the arm keeps a good length of leader clear of the main line on the way down, where a short arm would let it wrap. A longer dropper moves more freely and looks less tethered. Second, it holds separation in moving water, where a short spreader lets the dropper fold back against the line.
How To Rig It
- Basic bottom rig — Main line to the swivel, sinker on the lower attachment, dropper leader with hook or soft lure off the arm end. Drop, feel bottom, then lift the sinker just clear so the bait works above the rubble.
- Deep water and strong tide — Use enough lead to hold bottom on the drift; the long thin arm keeps the dropper standing off even when current angles the rig.
- With a soft worm — Rig it on a straight-shank hook or light jig head; the rolling swivel lets the tail move without loading twist into the leader.
- Lower, do not drop — Pause the descent once so the dropper straightens below the arm before it reaches bottom.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Boat bottom fishing over reef and rubble for grouper (kerapu), snapper (ikan merah), threadfin and emperor, plus deep-channel work in strong tide.
- North America — Gulf and Atlantic bottom rigs for snapper, grouper and sea bass; Pacific rockfish and lingcod over deep structure.
- Japan & East Asia — Boat bottom rigs for madai, kasago and amadai, where long-dropper spreaders are standard in current-swept ground.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Snapper, pearl perch and flathead off Australia; hamour in the Gulf; cod, whiting and pollack on European wreck marks.
