Hearty Rise Conqueror Otter Tail 3" Soft Plastic, 10 Pieces Per Pack

The Conqueror Otter Tail is a 3" finesse soft plastic built around a slim body and a flat, paddle-like otter tail. Hearty Rise describe the slim structure and otter tail design as increasing tail swaying to draw bass onto the bait, and the body is salt-stuffed so a fish holds on longer before spitting it — extra seconds that matter when you are fishing a slack line. Because the tail is broad and thin rather than a heavy boot, it flutters and self-swings on a dead-slow fall instead of needing retrieve speed to switch on. Supplied 10 pieces per pack in eight colours.

How To Fish It

• Jig head, slow roll — Count it down to the depth holding fish, then wind just fast enough to keep the tail ticking. Slow it further over structure rather than speeding up.
• Down shot — Set the tag 20 to 40 cm above the weight and shake the tip on a semi-slack line. The weight stays put while the tail quivers in place over a single rock or pile.
• Dead fall on the drop — Cast, then let it sink on a controlled slack line with the rod tip low. The flat tail self-swings the whole way down; bites register as a tick or a fall that stops early.
• Weedless over cover — On an offset worm hook, swim it over weed, timber and mangrove roots where a jig head would foul.

• Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) and peacock bass on reservoir points, giant snakehead (toman) over weed, small barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack around jetty piles.
• North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on down shot and shaky head, plus crappie, walleye and inshore speckled trout and redfish.
• Japan & East Asia — Black bass finesse work on down shot and jig head, and mebaru or kasago on light rock game around harbour walls.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, bream and flathead in estuaries; perch, zander and pike in European lakes and canals; small grouper off Gulf breakwaters.
