HAYABUSA - ULTRA-TEIN ASSIST HOOK FS472/FS473/FS474
Hayabusa Ultra Light Assist Hook — FS472 / FS473 / FS474
A high-attraction double assist built for very small metal jigs. Hayabusa lists the series as the Ultra Light Assist Hook in its jigging range, and its defining feature is that the dressing is applied straight to the hook: holographic tape, reflective flasher fibre, UV-reactive binding or fish skin sit on the shank itself, so the attraction travels with the point instead of hanging off it. That adds flash and colour change to a micro or super-light jig without the bulk that would spoil the jig's own action. Each packet holds two double-hook sets in size M. The three models share one compact platform and differ only in dressing, so the choice is about water clarity and light, not strength.
Key Features
- Compact double-assist sized for micro and super-light jigs
- Dressing applied directly to the hook rather than to the cord
- FS472 — holographic tape with reflective flasher fibre and UV-reactive binding, nickel finish
- FS473 — keimura (UV-reactive) mackerel-skin dressing, black nickel finish
- FS474 — luminous flash dressing that glows in deep and murky water, black nickel finish
- Hayabusa hook patterns: tough Isaki on FS472, Shunkan Madai on FS473 and FS474
- Two double-hook sets per packet, size M
- Suits shore jigging through to super-light jigging
How To Rig It
- Hang it at the jig eye — Join the assist through a solid ring and a split ring rated for the tackle, not by threading cord onto the split-ring seam. That seam is where light assists fail.
- Front mount for most light jigging — Nose mounting is standard for shore and super-light work, where fish take the head of a rising jig. On slow-fall presentations add a rear assist for fish coming from behind.
- Keep it short — On micro jigs the hook bend should sit around a third of the way down the jig body. These are built short on purpose; adding length defeats the design and starts wrapping the leader on the drop.
- Pick the dressing by light — FS472's holo flash is the daylight and clear-water choice, throwing hard reflections from multiple angles. FS473's keimura mackerel skin comes alive under UV, which means dawn, dusk and the blue light at depth. FS474's luminous dressing is for night, deep drops and dirty water — charge it under a torch or deck light before each cast.
- Fish it with a light rhythm — Short one-pitch jerks with a pause every few winds let the flasher fibre open and close. Most light-gear takes come on the pause or the drop, so keep contact as the jig falls.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Small trevally, queenfish, tenggiri papan, selar and small grouper from jetties, breakwaters and rock walls on light shore jigging tackle.
- North America — Pacific rockfish, black sea bass, Spanish mackerel, bluefish and school stripers on micro jigs from piers and boats.
- Japan & East Asia — The home ground for this class of hook: aji, saba, kasago, mebaru and small buri on shore jigging and SLJ, plus madai on lighter boat trips.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian salmon, tailor and bonito off the rocks; small queenfish and trevally on Gulf flats; mackerel, pollack and bass on European light jigging marks.
