Hayabusa Squid Junky Namaste 2 SR406 Metal Sutte 120 mm / 112 g
The Namaste 2 is Hayabusa's standard ika-metal metal sutte, reworked as a second generation with the emphasis on hooking rather than looks. It is not an egi and it is not cast: a metal sutte drops straight down, is worked with short lifts and long pauses, and carries the whole rig to the depth squid are holding at. The body is deliberately slim so it cuts water cleanly, tracks straight and stays under the rod tip instead of sliding away in current. The redesign went into the hook crown — a stepped, sharpened design that puts points at two heights, so a squid that grabs only part of the body still finds one.
Why 112 g. Japanese sutte are numbered on the go (号) scale of 3.75 g per unit, so 112 g sits at #30. That is a depth-and-current tool, not a general-purpose one. Take it beyond roughly 60 m, on a running spring tide, or when wind pushes the boat and a lighter sutte starts trailing away at an angle. The rule stays the same at every weight: use the lightest sutte that still reaches the squid layer and keeps your line vertical. Once the line leaves vertical you lose the pause, and the pause is where the takes happen.
Key Features
- Weighted metal sutte for vertical ika-metal squid fishing
- Slim body for a clean, stable drop and easier handling in current
- Redesigned stepped hook crown, sharpened, for better hold on a partial grab
- 112 g body — #30 on the Japanese go scale — for depth, running tide and wind drift
- Eight colours including red-head, UV and four glow finishes
- Sold singly, from the Squid Junky offshore range
How To Fish It
- Drop and count the layer — Send it to the bottom, then wind up a set number of turns. Squid usually hold in a band well off the bottom; when one count produces, repeat exactly that count.
- Short lift, controlled drop, dead stop — Lift 30–50 cm, lower under control, then hold still for several seconds. In deep water lengthen the pause; the sutte needs time to settle before it looks catchable.
- Hang a dropper above it — The standard rig puts a lighter sutte on a short branch 40–60 cm above the metal. The 112 g body carries the rig down and holds it there; the dropper attracts.
- Never strike — wind instead — A squid hugs the sutte, it does not bite. The take feels like the jig going heavy, going light, or refusing to sink. Lean into it and wind steadily under constant tension.
- Charge the glow — Hold the glow finishes under the boat lamp before each drop and work the shaded edge of the light pool, not the middle of the glare.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Deep candat sotong marks off Terengganu, Pahang and Johor for bigfin reef squid (sotong torak) and cuttlefish (sotong katak), where 112 g holds bottom on the run of tide.
- North America — Market squid on West Coast night boats and deep longfin squid grounds where current demands a heavy drop.
- Japan & East Asia — The home method: ika-metal and omorig for kensaki-ika, yari-ika and surume-ika, with the heavy sizes used on deep offshore boats.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Southern calamari over deeper Australian reef, squid and cuttlefish on Gulf marks, European squid off Mediterranean drop-offs.

Colours: #01 Red Head, #02 Red Green, #03 Red Chartreuse, #04 Blue Orange Glow, #05 Purple Pink, #06 Blue Glow, #07 Pink Glow, #08 Black Glow. SKU is the prefix plus the colour digit — 341SR406301 is #01 Red Head.
Recommended Pairing
- Ika-metal or boat rod rated to at least 120 g with a soft solid tip — the tip, not your hand, shows the take
- Small overhead reel or a 2500–3000 spinning reel with PE 0.6–1.0 braid for depth control at weight
- Fluorocarbon leader of roughly 12–20 lb, with a lighter dropper sutte on a branch line above the metal
- Carry lighter sutte alongside it; the right weight changes as the tide runs off across a night
