DUEL - SILVER DOG 90mm F940 FLOATING PENCIL CASTING LURE
Duel Silver Dog 90mm F940 Floating Pencil Casting Lure
The Silver Dog 90 is a floating pencil built around one job: a tight, repeatable walk-the-dog that stays on the surface but lets the head dig just under the film on each direction change. That slight dive pushes water and leaves a bubble trail, so the lure reads as a wounded baitfish rather than plastic sliding across flat water. The head shape produces low-frequency splashes and slashes instead of a hard pop, which suits fish looking up in calm harbours, estuaries and river mouths. In Japan it is used mainly for seabass and black seabream (chinu); at 90mm and 13g it casts on light tackle yet still reaches open water in wind.
Key Features
- Dynamic walk-the-dog action with a slight sub-surface dig on each turn
- Head shape tuned for splashing and slashing rather than a loud cup pop
- Streamlined, weighted body for long casts into wind
- Holographic and mirror-coated finishes for flash in low light
- Floating design that holds the surface through pauses
- Fitted with #4 trebles on #3 flat-forged reinforced split rings
- Sized for light and medium spinning tackle at 90mm / 13g
How To Fish It
- Standard dog walk — Rod tip low, short downward twitches on a semi-slack line at a steady rhythm. Wind only enough to recover slack between twitches so the lure keeps turning in place.
- Slow walk on the tide — Cast up-current and walk the lure back with the flow. Bites often come as it crosses a seam or the edge of a light line.
- Twitch and pause — Two or three quick twitches, then a one-to-two second stop. The pause is where cautious seabass commit; hold a small bow in the line and set on weight, not on the splash.
- Night and dawn structure work — Work jetty lights, bridge pilings, breakwalls and drain mouths, casting past the target and walking the lure through the shadow line.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Barramundi (siakap) around jetty lights and mangrove drains, queenfish and small trevally (GT) off rock walls, plus giant snakehead (toman) and hampala barb (sebarau) in freshwater.
- North America — Striped bass and bluefish inshore, speckled trout and redfish over grass flats, largemouth bass in freshwater.
- Japan & East Asia — Seabass (suzuki) and black seabream (chinu), the two species this lure was designed around, plus tachiuo and small yellowtail on light shore casting tackle.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian salmon, tailor and estuary barramundi; queenfish on Gulf flats; bass, pollack and pike in European waters.
