Duel EZ-Bait Cloth 80mm A1709 Sutte

Most sutte imitate a shrimp. The ez-BAIT does not — Duel builds it on a baitfish-like body with real volume, so it reads to a squid as a small fish rather than a prawn. That matters on boats where every other jig in the water is a slim shrimp profile: a different silhouette often gets a response when squid have stopped reacting. The rounded body cuts water cleanly, which keeps it stable through the three things a squid dropper has to do — fall, tease, pause. Duel calls it the all-rounder of the range, and that is a fair description: 80mm and 5g is the middle of the sutte size band, and it works as either the upper or lower dropper on a standard ika-metal leader. It carries an anti-twist swivel, a reflective Flash Eye, and Duel's Trick Hook, a crown designed to bend out of a snag and then be reset with the fingers instead of breaking.

How To Fish It

• Rig as a dropper — Tie it on a 30–50cm branch line above a metal lead jig. Run it on the lower branch when squid are hugging the bottom, and the upper branch when they are suspended in the light.
• Fall, tease, pause — Let it drop on a controlled line, shake the tip in small fast movements for two or three seconds, then stop dead for four or five. The baitfish body keeps a level posture through the pause, which is when squid take.
• Switch to it when the shrimp profile dies — If a slim shrimp sutte has taken fish and then gone quiet, change one branch to the ez-BAIT before changing depth or colour. A profile change often restarts the bite on pressured ground.
• Colour by condition — Glow and blue-glow for full dark and deep water, UV-reactive for dawn, dusk and stained tide, and darker silhouette patterns under a bright moon or strong deck lights.
• Wind, do not strike — A take is felt as weight or as a tip that stops moving. Load the rod slowly and wind at one constant speed; pumping puts slack in the line and the barbless crown lets go.

• Japan & East Asia — Kensaki-ika, yariika and surumeika on ika-metal and omorig boats, where a baitfish-profile sutte is a standard change-up against shrimp patterns.
