DECOY - Y-F33B TREBLE HOOK MADE IN JAPAN
Decoy Y-F33B Treble Hook — Size #14, Made In Japan
The Y-F33B is a downsized Treble Y-F33, built for the plugs that are too small for an ordinary treble to serve properly. It keeps the parent hook’s Long Spear Point — a long, sharp point angled slightly outward, so it touches the fish early rather than sliding along the jaw — and pairs it with 1× fine wire and a micro barb. Fine wire and a small barb mean far less resistance on entry, which is what turns a short, tentative “kiss” bite on a micro shad into a hook-up. The trade normally made for that sharpness is strength, and this is where the NS Black finish matters: Decoy use it to draw the wire hardness right up while keeping some give, so a #14 hook still has usable strength. Solid System welding holds the three legs together. Decoy rate it for bass, for stream trout, and for light saltwater lure fishing, which makes it one of the more versatile small trebles available.
Key Features
- Long Spear Point angled slightly outward for early, precise hook contact

- Long point with a round bend for secure holding once set
- NS Black finish drawing out wire hardness and toughness at small sizes
- Solid System welded construction for strength in each individual hook
- Sized for micro plugs, small shads and minnows
- Supplied in #14, eight hooks per pack; Decoy produce the pattern in #14, #12 and #10
How To Rig It
- Re-hooking micro plugs — Small factory trebles are often the weakest part of a cheap micro lure. Fit the Y-F33B to 30–50 mm shads, minnows and cranks and the same lure starts converting bites it previously dropped.
- Fishing it on fine wire — Set the drag light and sweep the rod rather than striking hard. The point needs very little force to bury, and a fine-wire hook is opened by a locked drag, not by a big fish.
- Choosing between the Decoy trebles — Y-F33B is the fine-wire hook for micro lures, finesse presentations and light contact; Y-S21 uses a curved point and short shank to shrug off shallow rock and structure in salt water; Y-S81 is the heavier-wire straight-point hook for saltwater plugging and forceful hook-sets. This is the finesse end of that ladder.
- Watch the balance on tiny lures — A micro plug has almost no weight to spare. After the swap, check the lure still sits and swims correctly before you commit to a session with it.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) on small plugs in clear rivers and reservoirs, tilapia and juvenile peacock bass, plus light game around jetties for small trevally and queenfish.
- North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on finesse cranks and small jerkbaits, crappie and perch on micro plugs, and stream trout on small hard baits.
- Japan & East Asia — Bass on pressured reservoirs where a downsized shad is the answer, native stream trout (yamame, iwana) on small minnows, and light salt game for mebaru and kasago.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass, sooty grunter and estuary bream on small hard baits; perch, chub and trout on European rivers, lakes and canals.

Model Y-F33B, downsized from the Treble Y-F33. Made in Japan by Katsuichi (Decoy).
Recommended Pairing
- Ultralight to light spinning rod with a soft tip that will not tear a fine-wire point free
- 2–6 lb fluorocarbon or nylon, or PE 0.2–0.4 braid with a light leader
- Micro plugs and small shads roughly 30–50 mm; match the hook to what came off the lure
- Use small, good-quality split rings — oversized rings will foul the point on a hook this size
