Decoy SV-51 Delta Magic Jig Head — Made In Japan

The SV-51 Delta Magic is Decoy's micro-wind head: a light game jig head built to dart hard on the twitch and feed fish on the fall. Everything follows from the delta head — a triangular, wedge-shaped profile that cuts water rather than catching it. A conventional rounded or flat-faced head loads up against the water and glides; the delta's angled faces shed that resistance, so the same wrist snap produces a sharper, shorter, more aggressive dart to the side. That change of direction is what Katsuichi describe as forcing neutral fish into feeding mode: a bait that simply swims past a cautious aji or mebaru gets inspected, while one that flicks sideways and then falls gets eaten. It also carries the Magic Keeper, the barbed worm lock covered in detail on the SV-52 Round Magic, which stops the plastic sliding down the shank under repeated darting without bulking out a slim silhouette. How To Rig It

• Micro wind — Twitch the rod tip down sharply twice, take up the slack, then stop and let the head fall on a semi-slack line. The dart draws the fish across; the fall is where the bite happens. Watch the line, not the rod tip.
• Match the weight to the style — Katsuichi split the range at 1/20 oz. Below it, the head is for subtle dart-and-fall on aji and mebaru; at 1/20 oz and above, for harder winding while staying in contact with the bottom. The 0.6 g and 0.9 g heads stocked here are the subtle end.
• Rigging the worm — Enter the nose square and thread the body straight down the shank, then push it back onto the Magic Keeper. A worm that sits crooked will spin instead of darting cleanly to the side.
• Working structure — Cast past jetty legs, pontoons and lit water edges, count down, then dart the head back along the structure line. Mebaru sit under the light line and intercept a bait falling past them.

• Southeast Asia — Small grouper (kerapu), rock cod and mangrove jack under jetty lights, plus juvenile barramundi (siakap) and small trevally on harbour edges.
• North America — Crappie, perch and smallmouth bass on a finesse worm; speckled trout, Pacific rockfish and small striped bass around inshore structure.
• Japan & East Asia — The home water: aji on ajing tackle, mebaru on mebaring, and kasago on rockfish game, all with the micro-wind dart.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Bream and flathead in Australian estuaries; small hamour over Gulf structure; wrasse, pollack and perch on European harbour and canal marks.

• Ultralight light game rod around 6'6"–7'6" rated to about 5 g, with a 1000–2000 reel
• PE 0.2–0.4 braid to a 3–6 lb fluorocarbon leader, or 2–4 lb straight fluorocarbon
• 1.5–2.5 inch straight-tail and small shad-tail worms; slim bodies dart best on 0.6–0.9 g
• Carry the SV-52 Round Magic alongside for when a plain, neutral head outfishes a darting one, and the slim SV-69 Rocket Plus when you need to fish by feel rather than by action
