American Tackle Ring Lock Guide 64NTRLC — TICH Frame, Nanolite Ring

The 64NTRLC is the ring-lock casting guide in the 64 series: a TICH frame holding a Nano Plasma ring, sold singly in six sizes from 6 mm to 20 mm. The name points at the part of the guide most builders never think about until it fails. In an ordinary guide the ring is pressed or glued into the frame and relies on that bond through every heat cycle a rod on a hot deck sees. A ring lock captures the ring mechanically instead, so the joint does not depend on adhesive alone. That matters most with braid: PE running at speed through a ring that has shifted even slightly in its seat finds the gap between ring and frame, and a line that reaches bare frame is a line about to part.

How To Build with It

• Checking each ring before wrapping — Run a cotton bud around the inside of every ring; it catches a chipped or proud edge before the guide is bonded to a blank.
• Setting the casting train — Put the 20 mm or 16 mm at the reel, step through 12 and 10 mm, then run 8 mm and 6 mm over the rest of the blank so line reaches the tip top nearly straight.
• Static test before committing — Tape the guides on, hang a weight from the tip, and slide frames until the loaded line follows the blank curve evenly with no flat spot.
• Rebuilding a single guide — Because these sells individually, a damaged frame mid-rod can be cut out and replaced without stripping the whole train.
