How To Build With It
- Choosing the casting stripper — Set the 20 mm or 16 mm at the reel. On a low-profile baitcaster the 16 mm is usually enough; keep the 20 mm for heavier blanks and thicker line.
- Running a long small train — Casting rods carry more guides than trolling rods. Step through 12 and 10 mm, then run 8 mm and 6 mm over most of the blank so the line sits close to the graphite.
- Spacing by static test — Start at roughly one guide per foot plus one, tape them on, load the tip and slide frames until the line traces the curve with no flat spot or blank contact.
- Keeping the tip light — Use size A thread on the small tip guides and two thin epoxy coats; heavy thread and thick finish near the tip dull the recovery this train is meant to preserve.
