American Tackle Nanolite Chrome SS Ring Lock Spinning Guide 64NCRLS

A single American Tackle 64NCRLS guide for rod building, sold individually in eight ring sizes from 8 mm to 40 mm. The S in the code marks the spinning frame. Because a fixed spool throws line off in expanding coils instead of paying it straight off a level spool, a spinning train needs a first guide that stands high and opens wide enough to gather that cone before it slaps the frame. Casting guides in the 64 series stop at 20 mm for that reason; this one runs to 40 mm. NC is the entry ring option: a Nanolite ring in a chrome finish on a stainless frame, seated by Ring Lock.

How To Build With It

• Sizing the stripper — Match the first guide to the spool: 40 and 30 mm for 6000–14000 reels, 25 mm for 3000–5000, 20 mm for finesse blanks. Undersizing here costs distance on every cast.
• Reduce, then run — Bring the cone down through 25, 20 and 16 mm over the first third of the blank, then hold 12, 10 and 8 mm all the way to the tip.
• Mixing tiers on one rod — Wear concentrates at the stripper and first reduction. A common build runs 64NCRLS in the small running sizes and steps up to a harder ring for the first two guides.
• Spacing and finishing — Around one guide per foot of blank plus one. Static test the taped train under a hanging weight until the line follows the curve, then seal in two thin epoxy coats.
