Trolling asks something different of a guide than casting does: the rod sits in a holder for hours under a constant bent arc, and load arrives as sustained drag pressure plus the sideways shock of a strike on the turn. A frame built for that is taller and heavier in section than a light casting frame, with a broad foot that feeds pressure into the blank over a wide bearing area. The ladder stopping at 25 mm is deliberate: a levelwind or lever-drag reel releases line in a narrow cone, so a larger stripper adds weight and windage without gathering anything extra.

How To Build With It
- Setting the stripper on an overhead blank — Set the 25 mm or 20 mm nearest the reel seat, then check the line angle with the reel mounted and the spool half full, not only with the rod at rest.
- Keeping the train short — Trolling blanks use fewer guides than casting rods. Step 16, 12 and 10 mm down the blank and finish with 8 mm before the tip top.
- Confirming under real load — Tape the guides on, hang a weight from the tip until the blank reaches its working curve, then slide frames until the line follows the arc with no flat spot.
- Wrapping for heat and salt — File the foot ramps flat, wrap both feet fully, and seal with two thin coats of epoxy; thin coats take deck heat better than one thick one.
