Bossna Ball Bearing Swivel With Solid Ring 7524

The 7524 is the strongest connection in this Bossna range and one of only two ball-bearing models in it. The bearing is the point: a rolling or barrel swivel spins freely in your fingers but effectively stops turning once it is pulled tight, whereas a bearing swivel keeps rotating while it is loaded. That is what stops twist reaching the reel when a jig, a blade or a drifted bait turns all day. Where the 7525 uses a cross-lock snap, the 7524 uses solid rings at both ends — closed, with no gap and no latch, so nothing can spring open. It gives up quick lure changes for the most secure connection here.

Solid Ring Or Snap

• Why the bearing matters — Jigging, spinners, trolling and deep drop keep constant rotation on the line. A rolling swivel binds under that load and the twist travels straight to the spool.
• Solid ring (7524, this model) — Nothing to lever open, nothing to fatigue. Use it where failure is expensive: heavy metal jigs, assist hook sets, big trolled lures, long fights.
• Cross lock (7525) — The other bearing model; it clips on and off, for lure fishing where you swap often.
• Changing lures on a solid ring — Add a pressed split ring (7530) to the lower ring: the bearing and the closed ring stay in the load path and you still get a fast change.
• Size numbering — On this bearing series a higher number is a larger swivel, the reverse of the #10-to-#3/0 rolling swivel scale. Do not read #7 here as small.

How To Rig It

• Assist rig for jigging — Braid to the top ring; hang assist hooks and jig from the bottom ring via a split ring. The jig spins on the drop while the main line stays straight.
• Braid to leader — Palomar or an FG-style connection to the top ring, improved clinch below. Wet every knot before seating it.
• After saltwater — Rinse and dry. Retire any unit whose bearing feels gritty; sand in a bearing stops it turning exactly when it is loaded.

• Smaller sizes: light to medium jigging and casting, 15–30 lb braid with a fluorocarbon leader
