Z-Man Swimmin' Trout Trick 3.5" x 6Pcs Soft Lure Soft Bait
The Swimmin' Trout Trick takes the ribbed body of Z-Man's Trout Trick and adds a curved paddle tail, producing a compact swimbait that moves at speeds most paddle tails will not work at. The ribbing displaces water and gives the slim body a live, segmented feel; the curved paddle rolls the bait rather than beating it, so the action stays subtle instead of overpowering the small profile. Z-Man says the combination draws bites not only from seatrout but from redfish, flounder, snook, small tarpon, stripers and bass, in both fresh and salt water. Z-Man rates the ElaZtech construction at 10X the durability of ordinary soft plastic and rates the material as buoyant, so the bait rides slightly nose-down and tail-up on a light head instead of dragging flat on the bottom. Supplied 3.5" long, six per pack, in sixteen colours.
Key Features
- Ribbed Trout Trick body for water displacement and a lifelike feel
- Curved paddle tail that swims with a rolling, undulating action at low speeds
- Compact 3.5" profile suited to finesse and light-tackle work
- ElaZtech, rated by Z-Man at 10X tougher than ordinary soft plastic
- Buoyant material keeps the tail up off the bottom on the pause
- Rigs on light jig heads, finesse jig heads or weighted swimbait hooks
- Built for inshore saltwater but equally at home in fresh water
- 3.5" body, 6 per pack, sixteen colours
How To Fish It
- Slow swim on a light jig head — Use a 1/8–1/4 oz head, let it settle, then wind just fast enough to feel the tail roll. Keep the rod tip low and the retrieve constant across grass flats and sand holes.
- Lift and drop — Raise the rod to 10 o'clock, then let the bait fall back on a semi-slack line. Most bites come on the drop, so watch where the line enters the water.
- Finesse swimbait on light gear — On a 2–5 g head this is a light-game bait: cast to structure, count down, and swim it back with occasional short pauses for rockfish and small predators.
- Weedless over cover — Rig on a weighted swimbait hook and swim it over weed, oyster bars and mangrove roots where an exposed hook would foul.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack around jetty lights, drains and river mouths; hampala barb (sebarau) in reservoirs and rivers; small grouper, trevally and queenfish off rock walls and flats.
- North America — Speckled trout, redfish, flounder and snook on grass flats and marsh edges; largemouth and smallmouth bass on a finesse head; crappie and white bass on the lightest heads.
- Japan & East Asia — Rockfish (mebaru, kasago) and aji on light game and ajing tackle, small seabass (suzuki) from harbour walls, and flathead or small hirame from sandy beaches.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Flathead, bream and whiting in estuaries, Australian bass in creeks; perch and zander in European lakes and canals; small queenfish and grouper on Gulf flats.
