The Split-Tail Grub is a 4" twin-tail trailer moulded from Z-Man's ElaZtech material. The two flat tails splay apart at rest and flutter independently under load, adding a kicking silhouette behind a bladed jig, spinnerbait or buzzbait without killing the head's own vibration. ElaZtech is naturally buoyant, so the tails ride up and keep working even when the retrieve pauses. Z-Man rates the material as up to 10X tougher than standard soft plastic, which matters most on the trailer — the part of a bladed jig that shreds first. Supplied 10 baits per pack in seven colours.

How To Fish It

• Bladed jig trailer — Thread it onto the jig hook so the body sits flat and the tails trail free. Wind just fast enough to feel the blade thump, and pause when the lure contacts cover.
• Spinnerbait and buzzbait dressing — Slide it over the hook shank to bulk the profile and slow the fall. On a buzzbait it keeps the head planing at slower speeds over shallow weed.
• Jig head grub — On a 3–10 g head, cast, count down, then lift and drop the rod tip so the tails flutter. Most bites come on the fall.
• Weedless swim — Rig on an offset worm hook and swim it over grass, timber or mangrove roots where trebles foul.

• Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) and giant snakehead (toman) in reservoirs behind a bladed jig; barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack around jetty pilings and mangrove edges on a weedless hook.
• North America — Largemouth and smallmouth bass on ChatterBait-style heads and spinnerbaits, striped bass in tailraces, crappie on light jig heads, and inshore redfish, speckled trout and flounder over grass flats.
• Japan & East Asia — Black bass on bladed jigs in mainland reservoirs, plus rockfish (mebaru, kasago) and small seabass (suzuki) on light jig heads.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Barramundi, Murray cod and golden perch on spinnerbait trailers; pike, perch and zander in European lakes and canals; queenfish and small grouper on Gulf rock walls.

• As a trailer: 10–21 g bladed swim jig or spinnerbait, medium-heavy baitcasting rod, 30–50 lb braid or 12–17 lb fluorocarbon
• As a standalone grub: 3–10 g jig head or 2/0–4/0 offset worm hook on medium spinning tackle
• Fluorocarbon leader in clear water; add a short wire trace where toman or barracuda are present
