The Slim SwimZ is a mini swimbait — the paddle-tail idea shrunk to 2.5" and slimmed to a narrow, understated profile. The curved paddle tail pulsates at all retrieve speeds, including the very slow ones finesse fishing demands, and the slender body keeps the presentation subtle in clear water and on fish that have seen too many lures. Z-Man rates ElaZtech as buoyant, so on a light jig head or a Ned-style mushroom head the bait stands tail-up at rest rather than lying flat in the silt — which is what makes it a natural Ned rig bait. Z-Man rates the 10X Tough construction as outlasting ordinary plastics, worth having when pan fish pick at the tail. Supplied 2.5" long, eight per pack, ten colours.

How To Fish It

• Ned rig — Thread it onto a 1/10–1/6 oz mushroom-style jig head and drag or hop it slowly along the bottom with long pauses. The buoyant body stands the tail up between moves — most bites come while it sits.
• Micro jig head swim — On a 1–5 g head, count down and wind slowly just off the bottom or through mid-water, letting the small paddle do the work.
• Drop shot — Nose-hook it above a 5–10 g weight and shake the rod tip on a tight line over drop-offs and jetty pilings.
• Light casting for pan fish — Fan-cast structure with a slow, uninterrupted wind. When bites turn short, pause two seconds and let it hang before starting again.

Target Species By Region

• Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) and juvenile peacock bass in reservoirs, tilapia and pan fish along margins, plus small grouper, snapper and trevally off jetties; useful for barramundi (siakap) keyed onto small bait.
• North America — Crappie, bluegill, perch and white bass on a light head; smallmouth and largemouth bass on the Ned rig when fish are on small forage; inshore speckled trout and redfish on grass flats.
• Japan & East Asia — Rockfish (mebaru, kasago) and horse mackerel on ajing and light game tackle, plus small seabass around harbour walls.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Bream, whiting and small flathead in estuaries, Australian bass in impoundments; perch and zander in Europe; small queenfish and reef species on Gulf breakwaters.
