Z-Man Shaky HeadZ Jig Head

The Shaky HeadZ is a jig head built for one specific technique: the shaky head, a finesse bass presentation in which a straight-tail worm is fished nose-down on the bottom and shaken in place rather than retrieved. The head is a stand-up design, so when the jig settles the weight rolls flat and the bait is held upright at an angle off the bottom, tail up, ready to quiver on the smallest rod movement. That posture is the difference between a shaky head and an ordinary round-ball jig head, which simply lies over and drags the worm flat. A sharp Mustad UltraPoint hook carries the fish, and a keeper on the shank locks soft plastics in place — it holds ElaZtech particularly well, which matters over long periods of shaking and dragging that slide an ordinary bait down the hook. How To Fish It

• Shake in place — Cast, let the jig reach the bottom, take up slack until the line is just straight, then shake the rod tip without moving the jig. The head stays put and the worm tail quivers vertically.
• Drag and shake — Pull the jig 30–50 cm along the bottom with the rod, stop, shake, then repeat.
• Work vertical cover — Pitch or skip it to dock pilings, laydowns and standing timber, let it fall on a controlled line, and shake it at each depth step. Bites often come on the initial fall, so watch the line.
• Choosing the weight — 1/8 oz for shallow water, calm conditions and the slowest fall; 3/16 oz as the everyday choice; 1/4 oz for wind, current, deeper structure or when you need to feel bottom composition clearly.
• Setting the hook — Takes usually feel like pressure or sideways line movement rather than a knock. Reel down until you feel weight, then sweep the rod rather than striking hard on light line.

• Southeast Asia — Hampala barb (sebarau) on rocky reservoir and river bottoms, peacock bass around submerged timber and rock walls, and jungle perch in clear streams.
• North America — Its home water: largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass on rock, gravel, docks and brush, plus walleye and crappie.
• Japan & East Asia — Largemouth bass in heavily pressured reservoirs and canals, where a shaking worm on a stand-up head is a standard answer for fish that ignore moving lures.
• Australia, Middle East & Europe — Australian bass and estuary perch around rock and timber; perch and zander on European lake, canal and reservoir bottoms during cold, clear conditions.
