Scented ShrimpZ is a shrimp imitation designed to sit and swim in a realistic upright posture rather than lying on its side, which is why it works dragged slowly, hopped along the bottom, fished under a popping cork, or simply dead-sticked. The body is impregnated with Pro-Cure Super Gel — a blend of natural scents and amino acids — so fish that mouth it hold on longer. A moulded hook slot runs along the back for weedless rigging and clean hooksets. Z-Man rates the 10X Tough ElaZtech construction as holding up to constant abuse from bait-stealers, the main argument for a soft shrimp on a day when small fish are stripping live baits. Offered in 3" and 4", five per pack, thirteen colours.

How To Fish It

• Under a popping cork — Suspend it 40–90 cm below a popping cork over mangrove edges and grass flats. Pop the cork, then leave it dead still for several seconds; the shrimp hangs upright in the strike zone while the noise pulls fish in.
• Hopped on a jig head — On a light jig head, lift the rod tip sharply so the lure jumps off the bottom, then let it settle on a semi-slack line. Fish take it on the drop, so watch the line as it falls.
• Weedless around structure — Rig on a weighted swimbait or keeper-style hook using the back slot and swim it through mangrove roots, pontoons and rock bars where a jig head fouls.
• Dead-stick — Cast to a snag or drain mouth and leave it. With the scent doing the work, this is often the answer for a wary fish in clear, shallow water.

• Southeast Asia — Barramundi (siakap) and mangrove jack around mangrove roots, drain mouths and pontoons on a moving tide, plus grouper, estuary cod and threadfin over mud and rubble bottom.
• North America — Redfish, speckled trout and flounder on the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, under a popping cork over grass flats or hopped on a jig head around jetties.
• Japan & East Asia — Japanese seabass (suzuki) around harbour lights and river mouths, kurodai on light bottom tackle, and rockfish such as kasago and mebaru over structure.
