The Scented Curly TailZ tapers a pot-bellied minnow body into a long curly tail, so the bait rolls and the tail undulates at speeds far too slow for a paddletail to work. Because the tail is moulded in soft ElaZtech it keeps turning on the drop as well as the wind, making this a bottom-bouncing bait for flounder, seatrout and redfish, not just a swimmer. Hook slots run along the belly and the back for weedless rigging either way up. The baits are infused with Pro-Cure Super Gel scent, and Z-Man rates the 10X Tough construction as standing up to toothy gamefish. Measured 4" tail extended, five per pack, made in the USA.

How To Fish It

• Slow straight retrieve on a jig head — Cast, count it down, then wind just fast enough to feel the tail turn. The action starts almost at a standstill, so go slower than feels right in cold or dirty water.
• Lift and drop on the bottom — Hop a 1/4–3/8 oz head off the sand or mud and let it glide back on semi-slack line. The tail keeps rolling through the fall, so watch the line.
• Drag for flatfish — Crawl it along sandy bottom, drains and channel edges with occasional short hops, keeping contact throughout. Flounder and fluke usually take it on the drag.
• Weedless around cover — Rig on a 3/0 weedless head or worm hook and work it through grass, snags and mangrove roots where an exposed hook would foul.
