Z-Man Hard Leg FrogZ 4" x 3Pcs Soft Lure Soft Bait Topwater Frog
The Hard Leg FrogZ is a soft-bodied topwater frog with oversized paddle-style feet that kick on the retrieve and throw a gurgling wake behind them. Z-Man rates the ElaZtech body as extremely buoyant — it floats even when rigged with a large 5/0 hook — so the frog sits on the surface through long pauses instead of sinking away between twitches. Moulded hook slots top and bottom make weedless rigging straightforward, and the soft body collapses on the strike rather than blocking the hookset. Z-Man rates the 10X Tough ElaZtech construction as swimming easily through the thickest surface cover and standing up to repeated strikes. Supplied 4" (10 cm), three per pack, seven colors.
Key Features
- Oversized paddle feet that buzz and gurgle across the surface
- Extremely buoyant body floats even with a 5/0 hook fitted
- Moulded top and bottom hook slots for weedless rigging and clean hooksets
- Soft body collapses on the take to expose the hook point
- ElaZtech, rated by Z-Man at 10X tougher than ordinary soft plastic
- For grass mats, lily pads, heavy cover and open-water surface work
- 4" (10 cm), three per pack, seven colors
How To Fish It
- Buzzing over cover — Rig weedless, cast past the mat and wind immediately so the paddle feet churn on the surface. Keep the speed steady; a stop-start retrieve lets the legs stall.
- Pause in the pockets — Wind it across pads and hyacinth, then kill the retrieve at every opening. It sits high through the pause, and fish that tracked it commit on the stop.
- Walk it in open water — Over submerged grass or a weed edge, twitch the rod tip on slack line to swing the head side to side, then wind up the slack and repeat.
- Delayed hookset — Wait until the rod loads before sweeping. Blow-ups often miss, and the buoyant body pops straight back to the surface for a second cast at the same fish.
Target Species By Region
- Southeast Asia — Giant snakehead (toman) and forest snakehead (haruan) over weed mats, paddy drains and flooded timber, peacock bass along reservoir edges, barramundi (siakap) over mangrove flats on a high tide.
- North America — Largemouth bass in pads, hyacinth and matted grass; pike and chain pickerel on weedy lake margins; bowfin in southern backwaters.
- Japan & East Asia — Largemouth bass (blackbass) in vegetated lakes and reservoirs, where soft frogging over mats is an established summer pattern; snakehead (kamuruchi) in canals.
- Australia, Middle East & Europe — Barramundi and saratoga over northern lily-pad country and billabongs, Australian bass in weedy impoundments, and pike in European lakes and canals.
